Friends of mine been sitting on the plane for over four and a half hours - something leaking from the wing they've been told.

That doesn't sound good! Let's hope they get some form of reimbursement! Shame they couldn't get on another plane 4 hours wouldn't make me too happy!

Not a good way to start you holiday to Vegas either!!

I would not be happy at all.
Just think of all that lost gambling time v( v(
Let's hope they get off or get fixed soon. I wonder if they have to wait for another to land as there is no spare fleet???

My missus and her friend were on this plane.

They are all now being taken off the plane and being put up in a hotel.

She said that there was something wrong with the plane and that they were trying to fix it by 4 but there is also some problems with the cabin crews hours or something.

To say she is annoyed is an understatement

Showing a departure time of 1000 tomorrow morning now.....onboard VROS which I assume was not the plane at fault?

As frustrating as it is, I'd be happier to leave the decision on flying to the captain, and if the crew ran out of hours there's nothing really that can be done about that, it's the law. Shame to lose a day of the holiday though.

I totally agree, its a shame for them though as they had booked different hotels and were planning on doing some travelling. Now they are going to have to cut a day out somewhere.

100% agreed there. Much sooner get there safe and sound than perhaps, well you know what I mean.

Never thought about it before. It must take some gutts to tell three hundred people they are not going on hoilday. :0

I bet it takes guts .... and a locked cabin door :D

I have just had an update and they are being sent to the Hilton for the night so fair play to Virgin as they could have sent them to a travel lodge or somewhere.

and "all those who wnat to be safe, see you in the hotel bar........."

VROS was the plane originally schedules, so I guess they reckon they will have fixed her by the morning.....

That's a lot of empty rooms at the Hilton, mind you I should imagine many went home (if within distance).

Perhaps so but have a thought for those wanting to travel tomorrow on the VS43??
If the flight was full does that mean people on tomorrow's flight get bumped or do those that missed the original flight just have to wait until there is a spare seat??
Most Vegas flights I have been on have been fairly full.

it will probably go tomorrow as a separate flight, with tomorrows scheduled VS43 going as planned - so 2 flights tomorrow

Ahh - I see. Just for me geeky mind.
Would you know if they leave at around the same time?? If so the new terminal will be worth it's weight in gold with a possible 600 people arriving at once!!!

Yes there will be two flights tomorrow, with today's flight operating at the VS143. There is of course a plane load of people in Vegas that the have to get home so it is the only real option.

£45 food vouchers provided to use at the airport. My friends and two kids also put up at the Hilton. Shame they're not going from LHR tomorrow, as we could have guested them into the Clubhouse, which would have made it slightly more tolerable. They're in PE wondering if today's full UC might have had some people that decide not to travel now, and them can get upgraded...I told theme hat for four people, they might have two hopes...Bob and No

Sorry, Loving Gold, but Neil doesn't have psychic powers as the information is on the Flight Status page on the VS website and delayed flights going out the following day always have the prefix 1 so as not to confuse ATC with two flights of the same number

And I'm one of the passengers stuck in Vegas. I guess there are worse places in the world to be delayed...

I had to read the text a couple of times when it came through as we were just checking out to go to the airport.

Virgin have been pretty good though, organising rooms in the Tropicana with meals and then shuttle to the airport tomorrow.

Not sure if I would be jumping for joy or my wallet would be sighing with pain in your situation. Just as long as you all have rooms and meals. What time did you get the txt??

That sounds ok but they could have thrown in a bag of chips (gambling type) for good measure :D

Some friends of mine were delayed a few years back and half the passengers got put in the CircusCircus & the other half in the Stratosphere, so well one VS on this occasion y)

This delay is not helping the VS budgets especially with the London plane passengers being allocated overnight at the Hilton with meals ii)

I was due back today 16:40 fro LAS to LGW but I had to call Virgin this morning after checking the web site and seen delayed till 15:15 on the 08th Aug. the young lady in the priority something or other dept was unaware of the delay and had o all me back roughly an hour later to say that I was the first passenger to contact them and yes it's cancelled till tomorrow and he UC team will be contacting me to advise of changes.

2 hours went by before the texts were received followed by the emails and finally a phonecall "Horaah".
In fairness she said a reservation had been made for me at the Tropicanna if I needed it but when I asked about food/refreshments they didn't have a clear answer and I was told to "keep any receipts and I'm sure we will sort something out", fair enough I suppose because I put her one spot but I'm sure they have set guidelines on what passengers should get.

One question though, will my additional gambling losses incurred in this 24 hour delay be covered ? :-)
