The first has been discussed on ANet and the AH report is slightly misleading, there was apparently a crew deadheading back to Heathrow on board with a qualified pilot to take over.

The second sounds ouch, perhaps a faulty oven ... hope they were ice packed quickly!

Read somewhere that the burn injuries were because of a hot drink spillage.
