I was checking my holiday booking (flying UC to Grenada in November) via check my trip and it appeared I was issued seat 6A and my fiancee had seat 6K, result ! Went back onto site today and the seat allocation has vanished ?| Any thoughts ?

There are no advance seating allocations on any flight in any class after Nov 1st for the time being while VS "upgrade their systems" (or, if various rumours are to be believed, prepare to start charging to request a specific seat).

If the website temporarily showed you having 6A and 6K, it shouldn't have done. But that doesn't mean you won't get them.

...and remember, there are no such thing as seat assignment guarantees, it is just a "request". Remember, always read the fine print. And it is the same for all airlines although some are better than others at getting it right.

So, you just count yourself lucky, alright ? :)

I read in the virgin holiday brochure that after 8th Oct (once refurbs are complete) pre assigned seating will be back up and running. Pretty poor show that a paying customer finds out pretty important info on here rather than being informed by virgin. What a bloody nuisance! :(!

Reading that news story it sounds like from 8th Oct, PE seat reservations will be available for flights from 5th January (90 days?). Is the January date the refit completion date on this basis?

With the upgrades / refits that are taking place the 1st class cabin is not being modified with the seating (only the entertainment system) the PE downstairs and bubble are the major changes the downstairs economy from the entrance door backwards is not changing but getting a refresh with the entertainment system only. You should be able to book seats in economy or uc on any flight within 90 days of departure as per virgins web site but any pe fare unable to book before 8/10/12 or T24-2 if before this point.

I just booked my PE seats from MAN to LAS for next May, the booking agent slightly confused me by implying I could try and reserve my seats online 90 days beforehand but then mentioned something about I could also try and log on and assign them in October...?
Is it 90 days or will the seats be released once the system is up and running in October any ideas?

It will be 90 days before your flight.

Currently, no PE pax can reserve those seats, but the facility becomes active for PE pax again from the 8th October, which is what the agent will have been referring to.

From October, the 90-day rule will be apply.
For example, my flight is within the 90-day time frame but I can't select my seats until after 8th October when they switch the feature back on...

Edit: Beat me to it, Neil.

Okay thanks, so its not even worth me even looking till Feb.. Im persuming the 90 days is the same for the booking agents too?
Thanks again both X
Ooh just one more question.. The Gatwick refit thread - Should this be Gatwick/Manchester refit thread or will the seat layouts differ? Again telephone agent said they'd be different ie no economy upstairs, however reading through this topic I'm not so sure he's right.

No harm in keeping your eyes open, from my limited experience this year, things do change with little or no warning.
Already since January, I've been from having my seat requested, to finding out (with no warning) that all seat requests being cancelled, now finally the 90day/8 October rule. :?
I'm flying out in PE on 20th November, I've checked my booking at least once a day, just in case something changes again ;)

Yes, right now you can select UC/Y seats 90 days before your flight, PE is at OLCI stage.

From the 8th October, PE will be also available 90 days before the flight.

This long, long awaited upgrade of the system best be worth waiting for. From a customer perspective the deployment has been less than ideal.
