Cabin Baggage size

Quick question - I saw something similar being discussed in the LGW re-fit thread but wanted to keep this seperate as it's not really specific to the re-fits.
I have read that overhead locker space in the bubble is smaller than normal - I usually take a roller case with me to keep my stuff in - it's a standard cabin size one that is accepted all over the world. Will this fit in the overhead or will it have to go in a wardrobe ? just curious as I don't want to be up and down to the wardrobe all flight to get stuff out !
Cheers

I have my much loved LV roll on which is exactly the size specified in VAs measurement guide. It fits in the overhead ok.
Not sure the measurements for VA as as generous as the rest of the world, not been a problem though.

put the stuff you need during the flight into a carrier bag if your carry-on gets put into the wardrobe?

The O/H bins in the bubble are smaller than elsewhere, so usually there are quite a few of the max size cabin bags put in the storage cupboard at the back of the bubble at the top of the stairs. The carrier bag suggestion is a good one for the stuff you will need during the flight. The LHR 744s have a shelf by the window seats which gives in-flight storage space and the older LGW/MAN 744s have a small storage bin under the window. Not sure what the refitted ones have.

Thanks for the replies - looks like I may need to have a re-think !
I only tens to put stuff in my carry on that I will need on the flight - hence I usually have access to it - granted, 1 of the things is a change of clothes for landing and they wont be needed throughout the flight but the rest of the stuff ( Ipad, kindle, Headphones, magazines etc etc) I usually like to have close at hand as there is not always a great deal of room to store them.
May have to put them in another bag in my carry on and hoe there is enough storage !
And before anyones say, I know I can read my kindle on my Ipad, however if there is no way of charging the Ipad then a Kindle is a good back up !

From my many flights on the upper deck, I have seen very few standard size roller cases fit in the overhead bins. The cupboard at the back is usually rammed with them however!
What I do is get the few bits out I will need (books/iPad/papers) etc and put them in the very handy side bins and then not long before the flight just put them away again, it's never an issue at all.

It's just my luck to have another 30 bags on top of mine when it goes in the wardrobe ! - wouldn;t want to take them all out to get at mine !
I may re-appraise my baggage decison and take a "squashy" bag as hand luggage !

They are stood up rather than piled. Even if your bag is at the back it only takes a few seconds to get it out (happened to me on our last flight), I honestly wouldn't worry about it too much, it's such a non issue.

It's a non-event unless you are American with a sense of entitlement that you can bring a 24" rollaboard and 21" rollaboard as your small personal item. The stuff that they "carry-on" is absolutely unbelievable.

Be wary of taking hand luggage on VS, their size and weight policy is even tighter/worse than easyjet!

I must admit, the only reason I even have hand luggage with me is to hold my travel docs, a book and maybe a bottle of water. Gone are the days when you could shove all your sun cream bottles etc inside a large rucksack

That said on my flight out that was the same but on my recent flight back from LAX the size of some of the carry ons astounded me because none of those could be said to hold 6Kg. There was one back a lady was using in PE that was so stuffed it was hanging open.

on a recvent flight in the bubble economy seats i can confirm overhead lockers are smaller, but the stewardess too larger backs and put them in the upper class storage lockers. One thing of note, at LAX especially on the Air New Zealand flight before the VS8 one was the insistance that carry on over 6kg would be tagged and put in the hold, an inspection was after gate check, and you were encouraged to come forward early, they seemed quite strict on this policy.
