Hey,
Just logged on to check my booking via VA and i clicked on change my seat to see the map. On My outbound from LGW-LAS its the normal 747 layout with PE upstairs and on the inbound flight LAS-LGW it has PE and Economy upstairs? does this mean i will have the refitted plane home? and not on the way out? or is there still a chance to have the refit outbound?

From what you have said I think VA's intent is for your outbound plane to be a non-refurbished one and your inbound to be a refurbished plane.
Of course, operational issues mean this is subject to change but I think you have interpreted things correctly.

Not sure there are any old 747's with split classes in the bubble out of LGW so I would say yes. Will be very interested in your TR to your thoughts on the split Y / PE arrangement. I personally hate the idea v( v(

interesting. For some reason I was under the impression all bookings were likely done under config 1 and then changed if need be nearer the date of departure once they open olci.
If the op can already see a refurb this far out for his return, im guessing whatever is showing in the booking / seat selection is more than likley the config we will receive?

Yesterday the seat plans were not available and today upon looking it showed a different plane layout compared to my outbound. It's good in a way but would have preferred both refits both ways haha. I didn't think they could assign a plane 6 days in advance? I was thinking more closer to the day they would know!

Like I just said on the re-fit post, I just booked LGW-CUN and Both "seat selection screens" were config 1.
I HOPE these change

Will be checking every day until 6th Oct! I have been waiting for these upgrades since 2010 when I was told they were starting... Now I'm excited to enjoy the new UC and really hope I get to see it

Completely making an assumption here but would it not be sensible that once 50% of the fleet has had its refit they will change all flights out of LGW/MAN/GLA to config-1, as this will be the most likely plane configuration from that point?
Perhaps from beginning Oct they've assumed this will be the case and have changed seat maps accordingly?

Their is no new UC on the LGW Fleet even after refurb, it's just a deep clean of the current suites and then the new IFE, the new upper class currently only operating in the new LHR 330's too JFK and Delhi

Well isn't that a pile of horse crap !!
At least the new IFE means it shouldnt leave us with nothing for 10 hours (as proved on 3/6 Vegas flights so far in PE and UC).
But I am gutted that there is no UC - It's falling apart.........

Oh really that sucks haha! Have they upgraded the IFE. So no more nova? I'd be happy with that as I like the UC cabin it's the IFE that needed updating!
My previous UC trips were great with the seats just needed TLC! I can't wait to go UC again but to sin city

I've had two trips to Vegas with UC that was fine, but one REALLY BAD Vegas UC, which had the screen falling off, loads of damage to the seat, seat wouldn't fold, and of course IFE that just fails after 3-4 restarts and getting into a fil for about 10-15 mins and then restart... They gave up restarting and decided to just bang a single childs film on.... Needless to say, on that Vegas flight, they ran out of Grey Goose as my Wife, friends and I had nothing else to do !!!!

The refurbs in UC will be getting the new Jam IFE, and the suites are basically totally removed and refitted so should be in 100% full working order and good as new, to be honest after reading less than glowing trip reports on the completely new suites, I'm quite pleased they are fixing up and cleaning the old suites!

Cool... I hope I get the new IFE then

That'll be fine by us !!
On the VS093 i think there is a 50/50 chance... at least on one of the routes, that we will get an upgraded system...

Installing JAM IFE now that would be spoil everyone! Lol about time really as they need to make UC better then other cabins and air lines! You pay the price for it to be amazing! So thanks god there sorting it all out now!

I am in the same boat. My outbound VS43 on 29/8 is showing as undetermined but my inbound vs44 on the 3/9 is sowing as a re-fit.
From a VS planning perspective I think that they will prioritise having certain types of planes in certain places at certain times based on known factors. They will then fill in the blanks as they go, or at least be more flexible in their approach as to what is where.
I think that is what we are seeing here.

We are booked on the 15 LGW-MCO route on the 3rd Oct and the seat maps are not available for both legs (return on the 28 on 17th Oct) if VS are doing a general update to LGW-1 config I would expect ours to be available. Wil just keep checking just in case

Exactly. Once the refurbs are done and G-VTOP exits the fleet an LGW/MAN 747 is going to be the VS UC sweet spot.

Being that you are flying premium economy I'm fairly sure you won't see any seat map till OLCI or very shortly before that, basically at the point Virgin are sure which aircraft will be flying you.

Thanks for info Trevski220 will just have to be patient. Not really that worried which plane or config but it would be nice to have seat requests in place before we fly. Thanks again.

Ok now 26 hours before flight both outbound and inbound are showing seat selection unavailible... I changed my inbound last night from good seats in economy downstairs to the bubble. Hope I don't lose them seats and regret that decision.....

Hi resonate,
No my flights not until 2nd September and I return home 11th, so it's shown me a little in advance really the type of plane I may be getting but subject to changes to? Well hopefully we get refurbs both ways if not you can compare the 2 and have a good trip report for everyone?

The wife and I are flying UC to LAS on 03 Nov so it would be a pretty safe bet that we are on a refurb so she will be very pleased with JAM IFE, all I want is a Sky map and the ability to select my seats.
One can only dream.

Yes the odds will be starting to favour you by beginning of November , I think they'll be 5 refits done by then, with another away so I'd give you 5 in 7 chance.

We are returning via LAX so will at least have V-Port, still no chance of selecting a seat but we are scheduled to have a 747 rather than A340, here's hoping to get a seat in the A zone.
