VS3 questions

I have looked at recent trip reports but most have (very understandably) focussed mainly on the new UC suite.

1. What is a typical immigration wait for this flight? One recent report mentioned 45 minutes, which is not at all what I was expecting! I am hoping to be able to get to my hotel on the Upper West Side and then to a 4 pm meeting. Is that realistic?

I'd much rather take the 17 the night before, but that doesn't look possible.

2. How is the meal service done -- is it lunch then afternoon tea?

Thanks very much indeed -- all advice gratefully received as always. :)

looking at the schedules for August 3 seems to be landing around 12.15, say another 15 to taxi and open up.so you could be off around 12.30-12.45.
i think 45 mins is a fair estimate to clear immigration -at times it can be FAR worse.
so lets say you clear the airport around 1.30ish thats 2 and a half hours. tight but do-able IMO

I've made meetings at 1600 hrs before, but as flabound says it's tight. I always try to avoid schedules where everything has to run smoothly as this seems to be the green light for it to do the exact opposite!

Ahh perhaps I can be of assistance.. :P

1. Immigration wait if flying UC or PE is usually only about 20-30mins.. Economy, pack a good book ): . That is assuming though that the flight that lands before is not delayed, think it is a 747 flight from India.. lots of fun at customs.. ii) 4pm meeting is doable assuming no delays at border control and good flow of trafic going into the city. This last trip I was in Manhatten by 130 and had a 145 lunch meeting.. ha.

2. Yep that it is... well lunch(ish) Depending on class of travel (you trying the new UCS?) the graze menu in UC is good, coronation chicken salad esp (picking out the raisins :P ).. only wish I had substituted some of the items on there for the mains served..

It is worth trying out the new A333 almost for the entertainment alone.. JAM is awesome. y) y)

This was also of interest as I'm on the same flight in a couple of weeks - although I'm down the back - and right in the last row! Guess i can expect a long wait then...

Luckily i dont have to be anywhere. I'd like to go to Coney Island in the afternoon, but its not essential if it gets late.

For what it's worth I was outside the front of the Terminal on the VS3 (with my checked bag!) by 12:20 after touching down just before 12 - in UC with a slightly early arrival, but still!

Typically it was the only time I wasn't in a rush at all and had a couple of hours to kill!
