The seat belts have had air bags for years. I do wonder in what circumstances they are of use though.
Nice bit of spin, but from all the reports I've seen, they've done a poor job after 4 years of redesign.

have to agree with the previous post, big amount of spin but from what some people have reported a big fail

Indeed - "longer beds" (narrower too).
Airbags have always been in the UCS since launch.
More cramped cabin experience.
Less privacy.
Less storage.
Only one arm rest.
Hmmm....

The seats are certified as 16G - so this is the spec:

I meant, what types of circumstances are they of use though? I assume somewhere between a heavy landing and undercarriage failure?
Has there been a situation where air bags have deployed? Wondering how an airline would comment about the apparent lack of these safety features in Economy seats.

"3 extra seats" - sums up the "Customer Experience" focus for this.

I believe it's if and when the 'brace position' has to be used as the VS J seats don't face forward, the normal brace position would be ineffective.
Pretty sure some VS A/C economy cabins do also have airbag seat-belts in exit rows too (A346's I think) as there's nothing in front of you in those seats.
