Checked baggage

OK so the wife and I are heading out to Vegas for a wedding in November in UC, we are staying overnight in the Sofitel but my wife won't be there until late due to work commitments, would I be aloud to check both our bags in under my name at twilight checkin so we can just head straight to the CH in the morning.
I am trying to keep it a surprise as the wife thinks we're flying PE.
PS we will not drink too much.
Thanks

Wouldn't be a problem at all - you're allowed 3 to yourself in UC so can both be under your name!

Great, so I just say they're both mine and print the wife's boarding pass off online?

AFAIK, there is a requirement for ALL pax (and bags) to be present at Twilight Check-In?

yes, all pax must be present
Available at Gatwick between noon and 9pm the day before you fly. Please note that everyone in your party will need to be present with their documentation for this option. Then turn up 50 minutes before boarding the next day with your boarding pass.

Just check in at the PE desk the morning of your flight, ive done this at Gatwick before when the UC queue was larger. Then surprise her as planned at the CH.

Hmm maybe it's changed since I last did it (was a few years back) but was able to do twilight checkin for myself the night before without rest of party present (couldn't check them in at twilight as not with me but just did it online instead!)

Maybe the OP should give VS a call, I'm sure there must be an option so he can keep the secret for as long as possible, can't be the 1st time this has been requested

I would do online check-in & print your own boarding passes for both of you, and then just bag drop "your" two cases at twilight checkin.... sorted.

Erm, if you try to check in for Twilight Check-In wouldn't it show up on the PNR that there are two of you travelling so that even if your wife printed off her boarding pass it just wouldn't work? It would only work if you were on two different tickets and PNRs

Twilight checkin at Gatwick would help with the surprise because everyone is in the same queque

The bag drop agents always recheck the OLCI information, so to avoid the surprise being rumbled until the morning, put a postit note on your passports as you hand them over so the agent knows the UC seat is a surprise and she/he needs to not discuss this

with you both.
This worked for us a few years back, but remember you'll have to distract your wife as the luggage gets tagged.
That's going to be a nice surprise for her y)

We are travelling on separate tickets so theoretically could I check us both in online and then drop "my two bags" off at twilight checkin and have my wife turn up in the morning with no luggage?
Or is this technically illegal?

No thats fine if you both have separate tickets - nothing illegal about what you want to do at all.
