'Wings' Day - Awesome!

Hi guys

Just got back from an awesome evening at 'The Base' in Crawley. My best friend has just finished five long weeks of training to be VS CC.

Thankfully I got invited to go up to her 'Wings Day'. For those of you not familiar with this, VS lets the CC invite family/friends/partners up, they put on a good show including the trainers explaining what the five weeks were about, before each new CC gets presented with 'their wings'.
The whole presentation was awesome and in parts quite moving because these guys have worked damn hard to get interviewed, then taken on, then going through training.

Afterwards you get a tour of the training facilities, including cabin mock-ups, emergency slides, rafts and so on.

As someone who loves VS, getting to see 'behind the scenes' was awesome, not to mention seeing someone really close to me achieve something really important.

So if you ever get the chance to go - do it! A great evening - very surreal seeing a mini-UC cabin (complete with bar) in the middle of a big building in Crawley though!

Massive kudos to group 731 and hope all their flights tomorrow (yep they have to start the day after 'graduating'!) go well.

Big up to VS for a great evening and I LOVE that building - looks awesome.

Bad side - I SO need a holiday now!!

Yeah - the Base is cool. Did they tell you that the bar mock-up is where the 007 scenes were filmed? :-)

Congrats to your friend.
Wouldn't it be great if aviation companies held public open days of behind the scenes rather like football clubs do at their stadia.
Hope you get to book a holiday soon ! :)

BA had one at their Heathrow engineering base earlier this year.
