V-Flyer

Flew out on Wed 19th to Antigua and was lucky enough to be on one of the upgraded aircraft. Absolutely loved the IFE, leather seats and the new menu. We were upstairs in the bubble and hope to get the same seats back. Had stopover in Barbados - no bar service from Barbados to Antigua n( We sat in 23A & C and would get the same ones back. As we were not in a hurry to get off the flight was not too bothered about being off the flight first but I would imagine if you were going to Orlando etc you may want to chose one of the downstairs seats.

Thanks for the info, which is of great interest to me as I'm going PE to Antigua next Easter, and weighing up the bubble/downstairs question. I think it will have to be bubble though, assuming I can get the seats when they open the seat map at 90 days beforehand...

Was there anything particularly special about 23AC, or was it just generally the fact of being upstairs?

I don't think there is time for any sort of service during that short hop so it is atandard practice rather than something happening just on your particular flight

Tonybear - nothing really in particular only that 24 seems to have their bin for luggage used by the crew for kit also 20 at the front seems to have less leg room - where are you staying - we are at the Verandah Resort - love it.

Thanks for the detail - I was looking at row 20 because I'm sure someone mentioned there was no bulkhead and so a lot more legroom. Maybe not such a good bet after all.

And we will also be at the Verandah! Got a stunningly good deal on it considering it's the easter holidays, my dear wife (pessimist that she is) is therefore convinced that there is something wrong with it... Problem is that we've been staying almost exclusively at different Almond resorts properties for the past 10 years so it's a bit of a leap into the unknown.

Anyway, it looks like the waterfront apartments have a great view, and as long as they can knock out a decent rum punch and some good food, I'll be very happy indeed!

ratechaser - sorry must have had too many cocktails! There are some waterfront rooms that have a better view than others - if you want I can look at the numbers near the beach bar as they look out over the sea, we have a side view so not so good but still better than looking at vegetation! As long as you are not picky eaters I am sure you will find something to eat - we certainly are not having a problem as my shorts are keeping me informed of this fact lol. Loads of premium brand drinks and cocktails. Have just tried to log into flight home to check our seats out but they are not available so it looks like we may be on an upgraded aircraft home again. Will make a point of looking at row 20 for you on our return flight if we do end up on one of these aircraft.

Well, anorak that I am, I have already looked at the resort map versus the many photos of the place, and it seems that the best view would be from 163/164 or 123/124 as a second choice, as they are all on the corners of a cliff top. I've already requested one of these if possible although frankly anything that's not a long walk to the bar is a plus...

Managed to book the same seats as we came out on - very happy which means we are on the same type of aircraft for our return flight tomorrow

Have a good flight home. Although I've never found the flight back from a holiday is ever as much fun as the outbound!

ratechaser - well we are now home. The flight back passed by really quickly and we landed nearly 30 minutes early. Goodness I wish I had been prepared about Antigua airport - the queues are horrendous so be prepared!

Bad news I am afraid unless you are under 5ft 2ins I would change from seat 20. There is a wall about 12-14 inches in front of you. I saw a gentleman who was over 6ft and he looked extremely uncomfortable having to keep his legs crossed because he could not stretch them out. At least further back you can put your legs under the seat in front of you. There is a cabin locker above the seat for your baggage. Hope this helps with your seat selection.

Thanks for the seat advice. I've not got anything assigned yet - that will have to wait until 90 days before - but very helpful to know. I definitelky read on another thread that there wasn't supposed to be a bulkhead/wall in front of row 20 so now we know for certain!

Further back it is then - maybe 24 so as not to feel guily about reclining at will

Hope that it was a good holiday. I can't wait until next easter now...

Ratechaser, We had 24 H & K for our outbound to Cancun and they were good seats nothing more in terms of legroom but as you say guilt free recline.

Onlt slight issue was with the food as you are served last and they may have run out of options. I wouldnt go for row 20 either, the proximity to the toilets, and the bulkhead din;t appeal - bear in mind that 20 H/K also have a bassinet position........
