First time using miles grabbed a couple of G's

Managed to book a couple of L class tickets to New York in January, and upgraded with miles to a couple of G's, I know with the frequency of flights New York is one of the easier rewards to get, but I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to do and how helpful the guys at the flying club were, also pleased with pricing £772 and 40,000 miles pp seemed good to me.
I've gone from an economy only traveller to somebody who flew upper once for a special occasion, to now having booked my last 4 trips in upper, I didn't believe it when people said once you've turned left you'll never want to go back turning right again, but I am well and truly hooked!!
It's taking a bit more overtime at work to sustain my new found addiction but I'm committed to the cause!

Hope you have a great time. Nothing quite so sweet as an UC reward.

Well done - collecting miles is a game that's well worth playing if you fly long haul, even if it's only once a year.
With the Virgin black card, online shopping, Tesco points, Hotel partners etc the miles soon build up. The PE reward vouchers with the credit card are also worth having.
I agree that the New York flight is the best for availability but I've also managed 2 Gs to SFO in March, 4 PE rewards to JFK in August and a recent G to Delhi.
Makes Upper Class accessible and saves thousands! Only downside is the you can become a little obsessive about collecting like me!

This all sounds like a foreign language to me ?|
I usually book my tickets on-line and have used miles in the last sale for our flights to New York, but could someone tell me how I book a particular class of ticket in economy in order to use miles to upgrade please, as it all seems so complicated ?

First I logged Into my flying club account and went to spend miles searching for upper class reward availability, once I found available dates, I clicked on the upgrades/companion tab, where it lets you search for a particular class of ticket, in my case an L class economy, found that price ok for me so I got on the phone to the flying club to book up the L and Upgrade it to an Upper reward seat (G)

Congratulations y) y)
For me this is the best use of miles and with the current promotion, ensures you step even closer to Au Status ):

772 is a good price for an L/G to NYC - well done.

Plus because you started out with an L, you get the benefit of the extra miles and TPs from the current offer. So the marginal cost to you in miles for the upgrade is even less.
Very good result!
