Has anyone seen this , just did a dummy booking and this came up

I think the tier point earning has been mentioned before. It's actually a bargain way to get status - 20 trips (or about £2k spend) would get you AU if there were no other restrictions put in place. Weigh that against 4 UC round trips to JFK at my normal corporate rate and it's costing about 5 times as much to maintain my status...

Or comparing it to my rat runs to Belfast on BA, that needs 25 flights to get me to AG... (on the cheap Y codes, before anyone makes that comment...)

When one thinks about it, that's a good way of making the MAN-LHR route a bit more popular. Anyone that needs to make a gold or silver TP run may just make two unnecessary trips to MAN which equals more bums in seats.

Just checked on my single for March 31st and it now shows 1 TP and 750 miles where as a few days ago it showed it as not earning.

Same-day returns at £110 and 2 TP a hop will make for very cheap AU. However I suspect a limit will be put on the earnings to stop it.

yes its a good way to reach/retain status but the idea that its a good way to promote the route is madness. the route will not survive if its based on flying club members collecting tier points. its need genuine traffic

2 TP @ £110 is only about the same earning as VX from SFO/LAX to LAS

It does seem like the new tier point run route to replace the old SIN-KULs. Plus you don't actually have to travel halfway around the world to start them, so overall a pretty cheap way of getting status.
