Just a quick 'heads-up' that I did a dummy booking to BOS on the VS website, and it showed the route as A330. I think it
was for next March/April.
Looks like the 330 will be on the following LHR routes soon:
BOS
JFK x2
IAD
ORD
DEL
(Edit- add BOM thanks Slinky)

Cheers for the heads-up Clarkey.
Looks like we cannot avoid the A330, unless of course we try to make bookings on their maintenance days.. The LHR - JFK vs3 A333 maint day is Friday

Ah but when they get enough in the fleet to have a 'spare' they will be able to run a 330s all week

IIRC VS ordered 10 A330's for delivery by the end of 2012.
Have they taken delivery of all of them yet and do we know which further destinations will see 330 service?
I'm guessing we may see another NYC rotation, perhaps VS9/10 and maybe DXB, ACC and LOS?

For the winter:-
BOS
JFK VS 3
JFK VS 25
BOM
IAD
MAN-LAS
MCO VS 27 (744 also on certain days)
MCO VS 15 on certain days
MCO VS 75
Think VS will have 6 or 7 330s by the end of the year with the remainder to be delivered/returned from lessors next year

IAD

Thanks for that virginboy747, very interesting.
So, it seems like there are no plans to re-configure the 2 class 330's to 3 class for use at LHR?
This is a shame as LHR will still be stuck with the rather tired A343 fleet.

Wow, stock take of the A330s.... ha ha ha.
Looks like they are going to be doing a lot of the east coast US runs.... means I have got to get used to them and even dare I say 'love' them.... at least until the Dreamliners arrive, is there a firm date for that one? or is it still up in the air, depending on their release to the other airlines ahead in the queue?

Does that mean no 744's at MAN, apart from the days the 77 or 85 run, or will it be made that they have 1 744 at MAN alternating between the 2?

I was thinking of something along the same lines - add in the gatwick changes and that gives a reduction in Upper seats to the sunshine state n(

Thanks. It may seem a bit odd but it adds to my list of "VS Variants Tried" (nb the two cabin 330 doesn't make to wish list). JAM, new UC (ok, that may not be a plus

) and a day flight from the US in one hit.

On the subject of Boston, does anyone know why VS11 stopped off in Bangor (BGR) yesterday?

Bangor is a common place to pick up fuel. Possibly could have been a fuel stop as there have been some pretty nasty headwinds over the past few days, probably stronger than anticipated so more fuel needed. If it wasn't that then most likely a medical diversion.

just found this thread. i'm booked on VS11/12 to Boston on 4th Nov, returning 9th & the seat map on VS is now showing these flights as A330-300's.
Does anyone know if the 12 still operates a snooze zone on the 330 & what a good seat would be? looks like there's a forward galley on these but then you've got the bar behind & it's only 9 rows in total. Also will the IFE selection be the same, just on a different system?

Ife will be the touchscreen system jam and there's no snooze zone on the 330
