Actually - thinking about it... Wasn't the wording "on renewal" after 80TP or something similar? In which case, I wonder how it works if you try to redeem before your renewal date...

Have you used it - I'm guessing on the phone only and straightforward, or perhaps the agents don't know about them?

Ah - just edited my post above. No reason to use it at this point in time, so not likely to know for a while - BUT I do wonder *when* it can actually be used.

Interesting that it can be used against ANY revenue ticket - that'll throw the (ahem) more "scripted" agents, I reckon...

Nah - it's hit pretty soon after my 80TP this membership year. It's whether it can be USED before renewal is my query...

And mine, although I passed 80 TP quite some time ago ...

I guess I'll see mine in the 1st week of december, which is when I get over the 80TP mark. In theory it's quite a nice benefit, I just don't know if I'll actually be able to use it given my business/leisure travel patterns. Assuming VS do allow me to use it for 4 one way upgrades, there's still the challenge of finding 4 Gs on any flight in the school hols...

The other interesting point would be whether it would apply to upgrading child fares - I saw a thread on FT suggesting that normally these could not be upgraded with miles...

Just checked my account and the same message appears to have been posted on 30th September....though I did pass the 80TPs mark quite sometime ago.... y)

Looks like it could be the initial sweep for anyone over 80 by September then. Whether it will continue monthly, or only at renewal, is anyone's guess.

If it's renewal that triggers the ability to USE it, that will be frustrating. My 80 was about half way through my rolling year - meaning each time you have to look at it for 6 months before being able to actually apply it.


Might give them a call to clarify.

Ha ha ha, I had to laugh at the email that I received today:

On 1st October your Flying Club account was updated to advise that you have qualified for the Gold Upgrade Reward. A technical fault within our database meant that this was issued before the end of your Flying Club Gold membership year. As a result the 80 Tier Point Gold Upgrade Reward has been removed from your account but please be assured that they will be re-credited to your account at the end of your membership year.
