Hi V-flyers

We are flying PE to SFO on the VS19 on 21st April 13. When i log on to my booking it tells me that the seatmap is unavailable for both outbound and return and when i click on the link it takes me to a message talking about seatmap not being available until 90 days before departure. Does anyone know if this is a new thing because in the past i have always been able to make seat requests 300+ days before.

Yes, it is a temporary system in place currently. You are lucky as up until a few weeks ago you couldn't reserve seats at all.

Virgin are installing a new system, that is taking forever so who knows when it will change again.

Yes, the 90 thing is a new thing, but apparently it's only a stop-gap measure until VS rework their entire seat map seat allocation system. How long this will take though is anyones guess!!

We are returning from MCO to MAN in November. On the Virgin Atlantic website under

and "Advanced Seat Assignments now available from 90 days prior to departure" it states the following:
"Premium Economy passengers travelling to or from Gatwick / Manchester or Glasgow will not be able to assign seats until 8th October, and this is for flights from 5th January 2013."
I am not optimistic that we will be able to reserve seats tomorrow!!

No, not dreaming, I sat up till midnight hopeing it would open up, then logged in again at 7 this morning, still waiting
I wouldm't mind so much, but I can't even get into the VS website from my work pc, having to check on my phone n(

May as well merge all the "October 8th" threads so we can pur the anger into one place. VS are amateurs. I am done with them after my flight in November.

I have been on to Virgin and they said the system is now completed and seats are only available for request in all classes 90 days before departure.

That has confused me even more (doesn't take much), it mentions LGW etc, but what about the LHR-MIA flights?
I still can't work out if I should be able to see my PE seat for March 2013 or not.

Yes, but only 90 days before your flight.

I don't think you will be able to see your March flight until about December time ?? 90 days before flying. I might be wrong but that is my understanding
