Just checked MMB to request PE seats for our flight to Cancun on 4th December and it's still showing unavailable.
So glad I didn't wait up until midnight last night to try and request seats.

We are returning from MCO to MAN in November. On the Virgin Atlantic website under

and "Advanced Seat Assignments now available from 90 days prior to departure" it states the following:
"Premium Economy passengers travelling to or from Gatwick / Manchester or Glasgow will not be able to assign seats until 8th October, and this is for flights from 5th January 2013."
I am not optimistic that we will be able to reserve seats tomorrow!!

I've just checked seat requests unavailable "Find out why" it states:-

The upgrades to our fleet are almost completed and therefore you will be able to select your Premium Economy seats via Manage my flights or your travel agent from 8 October 2012.

There is no mention about 5th January and dyj link to this reference is broken it states sorry we can't find the page you asked for.

A selection of seats are now available for pre assignment. If you wish to request these seats before you fly please go to "Manage flights" or contact your travel agent. Premium Economy passengers travelling to or from Gatwick / Manchester or Glasgow will not be able to assign seats until 8th October, and this is for flights from 5th January 2013. Unfortunately these Premium seats do not become available until we have completed the aircraft upgrades that are currently in progress.

Yes, for PE pax, it is only from 5th January.

I know the feeling, my flight is after 5th Jan but still no seatmap available. Just have to keep trying

Is it within 90 days of today though? Remember all seat maps are only available 90 days in advance, so right now it is only flights during the first couple of weeks of Jan that will be able to select seats.

I've just had a quick chat with CS on their Web Chat and they have assured me that the seat requests in MMB should be up and running from mid day.

I'm not holding my breath to be honest !

This is certainly not making me want to ever try Virgin again!!!

I look at my booking daily and have done so since this farce with seating requests started.

I'm flying out on 20th Nov in PE, I did see the 5th January thing a while ago, but VS promptly changed it so that seat requests for pre January could be made from today also. !
When I check manage my booking (on my phone because the website is s####e) it's still telling my I should be able to book my seats from today!
How f####### hard can it be to get a line to text right :0

I'm so so disillusioned with Virgin at this time. I booked this holiday over a year ago, I have scrimped and saved to upgrade my seats. I have pretty much lived like a hermit all year to save for this holiday v( My Partner and I didn't even really celebrate her 40th birthday earlier in the year, so we could have a better holiday.

Must admit, I don't think I'll use them again, Thomson and Thomas Cook do better customer service than this, I'm appalled to be honest n(

I have booked upper class from Gatwick to Cancun 1 June and still cant request seats which i dont understand as i didnt think upper was changing on the new planes.

All pax, regardless of class of travel can't request seats until 90 days before their flight. This has nothing to do with the refits and it because of a new IT system Virgin are installing.

It says on the website premium economy can request from today so whats the difference?

I am travelling PE from LGW in November and in the 'Find out why' link in MMB, it doesn't say anything about the 5th January 2013 bit. Plus, if I click the link in the latest news section, there is nothing there either.

It obviously is the case I can't 'reserve' my seat in advance, but a bit of consistency (again!!) wouldn't go amiss. Just get the message right in all sections and it would save a lot of confusion.

I think its the inconsistency that annoys people and this seems to carry through the whole VS offering.

If you look at Virgin Holidays website, on their customer service page, it does still mention 5th January.
So damn infuriating. I can't even go to there online chat thingy, because the VS webiste is so crap!

Yes, PE pax can reserve from today if there flight is within 90 days of today's date.

Econ and UC pax have been able to reserve their seats for a few weeks now (again, providing their flight is 90 days or less away), it has only been pax that have had to wait until today because of the refits.

It was so much simpler when the only choices you had were when you got to the airport and they were window/aisle and smoking/no-smoking!

Well I haven't got a PE flight that is after the 5th Jan and within 90 days of today's date (there must be only about 5-10 dates that currently fall within those parameters), but if you have a flight that meets that criteria then you can.

90 days from today is exactly 5 January!!

but that's the point, the website is still saying that I should be able to request seats today (for November flight).
In my opinion it's not on at all, for any other service, people would be demanding refunds etc.
