Can anyone help me with a pretty petty argument with one of my friends!
He went to new York on the 21st of sept with VA but claims to have taken off at just before 9-30 am ,having looked at the aircraft database I can't find a flight that took off at that time the closest being vs003 ,the point of this being that I said I would find out which plane he flew on,maybe I've had one too many!
Anyone help?
Regards

Ha ha ha, Yep VS3 is the only 0930 NYC one.... he would have likely flown the A340-600. 21st is the A333 day off, although it is possible he was on the new A333 if they pushed the maint day.

Dare I ask, what is the argument?

Edit - just checked the database, it was G-VFOX Queen of Clubs, an A340-642 :w

Joey, whilst you are online can you give me some advice?
I've asked this question previously on here but am still struggling somewhat.
I'm going to new York on the 17th nov flying PE both ways but still want to sample some UC at least one way price allowing.apparently you can check upgrade prices on mmb .i guess I must be doing something wrong but for the life of me can't work out how to do it,would I be better off phoning up nearer the time ? .
Advice most welcome

MMB will show the u/g prices if VS want to make them available with a banner of "Upgrade this flight for x" on the page. I took advantage of this about 18 months ago when doing a periodic check of my booking...a bit like checking I've not left the iron on, according to MrsPJH..

Remember from a VS point of view, you can always upgrade. It just costs more money than you might like...

Sure thing. :D

How are you looking to upgrade?

If using money then time is not your friend, in UC the cheaper fares fizzle out roughly 21 days before departure and the higher more expensive ones take over - they are trying to get their cut from the business market by pushing full fare tickets. This is where the option in MMB pops up, it is directly below the class of travel on the page - it will offer upgrades one-way or two way. I have never seen this cheaply though.

If using miles then yep keep trying, G fares are released at random intervals so you might get lucky. This is where on the day it pays to arrive early too - can score an upgrade at checkin if they have not sold out the cabin.

Hope that helps a little ? 8D

Unfortunately it would be coming out of my pocket rather than miles(due to fact I don't have any !),I know it's hard to say but from your experience what would you say (roughly)would be an average price of an upgrade from LHR to JFK from PE to UC?

Ahh I have just noticed they have updated the booking tool - nice, it displays all the fares by class and by section flown side by side.... Cool. 8D

At the moment, upgrades from PE to UC on the 17th will set ya back £809 per person. One section only though, that isn't the return price :P

Check it out - it's on their website.

Most of my upgrading comes from using miles (or a smile) I am afraid. If I were you I would enjoy PE on the outbound from LHR - is it the CH you want to get into? And if the capacity is there think about upgrading on the inbound from JFK - even still the flight is a short one and with a good CC aboard, service in PE will be a good'un. Which flights are you on? Is it the 3 and the 46?

Have booked the clubhouse as well for £60 each which I didn't think was too bad, going on the 45 and the 46 back, would have preferred the 3 on the way out but wife said it was too early!
To be honest I think we will enjoy PE a lot having done it in aug on the outbound to st lucia on a non refurb so I'm assuming that the planes from LHR should be a lot better ie better seats ,Ife etc but I really want to sample UC after reading a lot about it on here

Ahh yes the UC bug - a pesky thing to shake.

Premium economy is awesome for a family trip and to have the start in the LHR CH is a massive treat. Be careful though, you may never want to sit in the terminal again.... ):

I am sure you guys will love the PE cabin after the non refurb experience out of LGW. Nice leather seats and a fairly good IFE. It is a short flight after all.

The 46 is my favourite to return from JFK, it leaves at a good time, gets in at good time and the space on the jumbo is enough to sleep well in y) y)

Save UC for that special occasion (or the next VS sale :P ) and be warned when you have experienced the service at the front of the place it is very difficult to turn right again.

Look forward to reading the TR, and don't hesitate to post any further questions if any other concerns pop up. 8D
