If you buy youre duty free cigarettes (400 Superkings) on board or pre order them they are 38GBP. If you buy them at the duty free shop at Manchester airport(MAN) they are 56GBP or at Orlando (MCO) they are 76USD. a Very big saving. y)

It just goes to show that duty free doesn't mean profit free.

I had the very same question on my flight last night when looking through the in-flight mag.
My first thought was perhaps it may be Duty-Free but not tax free???

Thought the very same thing yesterday, Lax airport was very expensive, bought all our duty free on the plane as it was so much cheaper.

Or if you give up smoking = £0

Be warned, they'll regularly skip the duty free, or not ask. Happened on my last flight, and by the time I realised, all it was "gone" so they claimed.

I personally reckoned they'd forgotten to ask us, and done it a while ago and couldn't be bothered. So if you plan to buy onboard, do it in advance, its the only way its guaranteed to be done, don't rely on the cabin service otherwise you'll not be getting any.

But yes, its best value onboard, I got that tip from v-flyer...

Yep, I've also found that you now have to ask to buy duty free on many VS flights v( especially flights back from the US as I had to do this the other week coming back from ORD.

I just pre ordered my smokes for Tuesdays flight.
Even got a fiver discount each way so 800 B&H were £71.
You cant even buy 200 for that...

The duty free trolleys only go through economy so crew in j and pe should ask pax if they want duty free

Normally j pax will be asked when crew take the meal orders and pe asked after meal service cleared in

That shocks me.
You are correct that in J they do ask when taking meal orders etc but I thought also the CC had targets to try and hit for Duty Free and perhaps a little bonus attached to orders(?)
Perhaps I'm so out of date on this.

They're not allowed to take carts through premium as supposed to be offering a more personalised service by asking each pax and also keep trolley movements to a minimum in the premium cabin
