Has anyone had any luck getting a Promo code from VS to apply for Global Entry as a UK citizen?

Currently Global Entry isn't open to UK citizens but BA were giving out codes around a year ago to their most frequent US flyers to allow them to apply as part of a pilot scheme. Someone is now claiming over on FlyerTalk that they were given a code by Virgin.

I have spoken to someone on the AU line and e-mailed customer services but neither had any idea what global entry was.

I also asked on the Au helpdesk number and they had no idea what I was talking about.... I woudl be interested too...

I was told that the US will not allow it unless the UK opens up access to all the UK police and intelligence agencies' databases so they can confirm your good standing.

Have made many attempt to gain access to this service with no luck... Even went to see immigration at both JFK and SFO and were told it basically it's a no goer for UK citizens

UK citizens have no chance. Heck, it's bad enough getting back in here now !

Just to make sure we are talking about the same thing. The Global Entry Kiosks at US airports?
Pretty sure I got an email stating that UK regular travellers could now apply for Global Entry but with a cost attached??

There was a a test conducted for UK frequent flyers through US borders at select airports a little over a year ago.

I was not aware that VS were participating, I did enquire at the time and was told they were not included... whether or not that meant that they had already allocated their test subjects as the UNIQs that pass through to the US all the time or that VS were not eligible for the test, I am now not so sure.

Global Entry was supposed to be made availabile to the wider travel community but as the others have pointed out the various departments involved ran into a little road block with the amount of background information required about each of the pax n( n(

Yes, pigs may very well fly and pass through Global Entry first.. 8D

BA have been handing out registration codes to their favoirite pax.

Doesn't seem too secure though, if you can print your own barcode and fool the system into not giving you the full security groping.

UK *if* they have a promotional code. So, not really open to UK regular travellers if it is done at an airline level and not by the CBP. I am a very regular traveller and will see if United can supply one and let people know.

That is not Global Entry.

That's pre-check different thing to GE.

What you were told is wrong. This is what they ask for: http://www.acro.police.uk/police_certificates.aspx but you need the promo code from CBP via your airline.

No, I am not wrong. That was the information I received direct from the USCIS - not related to any trial but standard every day procedures and clearly backed up by your links to their website given above. UK citizens are not be allowed to apply for Global Entry (other than it seems as per this trial) as the US has no way of accessing their criminal records. There is currently only one European country that can apply unrestricted - I think it was Denmark but not sure.

A police certificate has always been required for visa applications if you have ever been arrested/cautioned/etc. there is no 'spent' time frame either.

As I am applying and the one item, from the CBP application form that I don't currently have is: "Police Certificate Number", then we will agree to disagree. I'll let people know my experience with it, it will save me a lot of time if this comes off.

Is the 'Police Certificate Number' the same as the UK CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) Check certificate?

I'm not sure an individual can apply for one though? - mine have always been done via an employer.


Pilotwolf I think it is Holland not Denmark.

There are 3 types of CRB's available. Basic, standard and enhanced.

Anyone can apply and pay for their own basic CRB if they want to but only employers can apply for standard or enhanced CRB's

What Silver Fox is talking about is not a CRB, though.

Nope, this is not a CRB as at420 says. This is the difference in this case (from the FAQs on the ACPO website):
"I have a CRB Certificate, can I use that instead of the Police Certificate?

No, the Embassies and High Commissions will only accept the ACRO Police Certificate."

The US CBP have explicitly asked for this Police Certificate from the ACPO office. I can do no more than supply what they have asked for.

So you're applying for Global Entry? Did United give you a code then?

So you are applying as a trial applicant not as a general member of the UK travelling community?

In which case my information, backed up by your link IS correct. Global Entry is NOT available to UK citizens other than as the trial.

Believe me I have looked into every way to make my US trips over the last 16 years as easy as possible. I am well aware of the police certificate requirement as I am currently change my status to permanent resident from B1/B2 visa holder.

Silver Fox, I'm very jealous!

The most frustrating for me has been the garbled responses I got from Virgin, it wouldn't be as bad if they said they didn't have any codes to give out but they clearly didn't know what Global Entry was.

Maybe the UNIQ's in here would have better luck.
