Best seats in upper for Couple in LHR 747 config 4

I've read lots of reports but am still unsure of which are the best seats, at the moment i've booked 12 A&K are these identical to 6 A&K on the LGW Fleet?

What are peoples thoughts on the upstairs cabin? We are quite keen on the idea of the upstairs cabin having never flown in it before, but unsure about it due to it being split with economy, how does that affect boarding and disembarkation, the last thing we need on the 045 is being late off the plane into immigration.

I'd welcome anyone's input on this

Many Thanks

Trev

Hi trevski,
If you are worried about the upper class cabin on the 045 I will willingly swap my PE tickets for my flight on the 45 on the 17th of nov if it puts your mind at rest !

Seats 12 A&K are identical to 6 A&K on the LGW fleet. I've used them on a few occasions both as a family group and once in 12K on my own (only because I was asked to change my seat when in the CH to accommodate a family to sit together) and I rather liked them, especially in the family situation.

I have never flown in the upper deck cabin in the UC/Y configuration but I did fly UC when the cabin had a UC/PE split long before the introduction of the Suites. I can remember my frustration at disembarking after PE, especially as we got behind an elderly lady who, quite frankly should not have been allocated a seat in the upper deck because of mobility issues. She was so slow that the crew had started to let the economy passengers downstairs disembark. There was however, sufficient aisle space for UC passengers to forge ahead if they so chose. This is less likely to happen with the current UC/Y config.

I am currently amused by the outcry of PE passengers from LGW about the PE/Y split in the upper deck. Although regular UC passengers did moan about the proposed split, I don't remember as much of a hullaballoo as is currently happening :w

Thanks Honeylamb, I have to say I have also been amused by the outcry of PE passengers on the LGW fleet because of the upper deck split, my opinion has been one that if you dont like the shared upper deck then you should request seats downstairs!! Though I suppose I'm in no position to comment having now asked a question like this.

I must say though my reservation with the upper deck is only because of the possible delay leaving the aircraft and not because I think sharing the upper deck will in some way spoil the upper experience.

I sat in 5K (upstairs) on VS20 and I thought it was fine but it did take longer to disembark as the economy passengers did get off first. I didn't mind as I had to wait for someone in London whose flight arrived after me so I was in no rush.

I traveled solo in 12A from LHR to SFO. There was no one in 12K on my flight but I think it would have been good for two people traveling together as you could see the person across from you and you are much closer than in other suites so you could feasibly talk across the aisle without shouting.

Thanks for the advice, I recently flew in 6a&k on a LGW 747 and found that nice so think i will stick with 12 A&K for this flight!

We always try and get 6a&k, 7a (LGW) or 12A&K, 14A (LHR) as a family of three.
