Hi all,off to NY tomorrow as some of you may be aware of.
Probably not a big deal to a lot of you on here but only my second time in theUSA and the first was over twenty years ago so I'm a little excited to say least.
No kids for 4days as well !
Will take lots of pics and try to do a couple of decent TR on return

Seq 65 and 66 are much better than my usual efforts LOL ( I'm usually in triple figures ) ).

Just going to relax and go with the flow waatp,want to see the obvious things like empire state and statue of liberty,central park and ground zero.
Plenty of food and drink and buy some clothes.its the first time mrs B and I have been away together for 15 years odd years ,as much as you love your kids you need a break sometime,I know mrs B certainly does.
Any tips or places to go waatp?

I recommend Top of the Rock at the Rockefeller Centre - views are amazing and the lift up to the top is a real experience!

Also highly recommended if you haven't been before is the Christmas Spectacular at the Radio City Music Hall. I think this year's show has just started (you can buy tickets online before you go), and although it is a little while until Christmas, this show will really kick start the whole season. It is just so Christmassy and fantastic!! A really heartwarming experience.

Agree with Turquoise ... a trip to see a show is highly recommended. Broadway itself is worth a trip at night.

If you make it to NoHo and SoHo, there is a bar there called The Ear Inn - it's small but the food is great and the atmosphere second to none.

The US Invincible is now a floating museum and worth a visit if you have time.

Some parts of Greenwich Village are cool, very trendy.

The Outlets are a great way to grab some bargains and the hotel you are staying at should have some leaflets off the closest ones.

If the weather is good, take a buggy ride around Central Park. And take a walk out to the bridge. Beautiful.

And the Empire State is worth going up at night. Stunning views.

Huh, wonder what has happened to the 747 that usually does the route... an A346 lets hope - a sound plane, I prefer it over the 747 actually.

I am sure you will have an brilliant flight. PE seats are really comfy and with a good service crew it will be amazing 8D

Unfortunately the SoL is closed due to Sandy damage. The statue is ok but the boat dock was very badly damaged. But you can still see her in the distance from the shore or on the Staten Island Ferry.

Groud zero may still be closed as well as there was some flooding there but the preview office( on vesey st) will have more info and if the site is open it may have some day tickets available as access is limited due to the ongoiibg construction.

There is usually an I retesting exhibition at the NY public library too!. And if you get chance walk the high line - you'll get a very different perspective of the city.

As Turquoise says Radio City Music Hall is an experience worth having. Some of it seemed a little odd to my european eyes and ears, but definitely an experience.

If you go to Macys, go to the service desk (be prepared to queue for a little while) and get 10% discount card(?) just for being an overseas visitor. Remember that all (most?) prices quoted are without tax; the card basically makes the purchase local tax free.

Century 21 down near Ground Zero can be fun for shopping, as they often have some weird designer stuff, but not always that cheap.

2 other good spots...St pats cathedral and Grand Central , the architecture in both is amazing.

The Century 21 store over in Brooklyn is IMHO much better than the crazy scrum that you find in Cordtlandt St and has a separate "home" store which is particularly good for nice ( high TC) bedlinens .

Another vote for Top of the Rock. You can see the the Empire State building so it's in your photos instead. Great view of Central Park too.

Don't worry, I had Seq 370 for a flight on a 150 seater aircraft recently*

Anyway, have fun!!!!

*Flight number performed 3 segments so not as crazy as it sounds!
