Looking at the latest news on pre-assigned seats that VTOP will be out of service fom 5th Jan 2013. Good news for everybody
ADVANCED SEAT ASSIGNMENT
Advanced seat assignment is now available from 90 days prior to departure.
A selection of seats are now available for pre assignment. If you wish to choose your seat before you travel, go to Manage flights.
Premium Economy passengers travelling to or from London Gatwick, Manchester or Glasgow can only assign seats for flights departing from 5 January 2013. Unfortunately these Premium Economy seats do not become available until we have completed the aircraft upgrades that are currently in progress.

that only indicates when the refits are likely to be complete
doesnt mean VTOP will be leaving at that time though

Given the lease is up in February it makes sense it would leave the fleet in January so return to lease maintenance can be done.
I seem to recall the 346's were out of service getting checks for about a month before returns too.

So its due for a heavy check before then ... wonder whether VS has to do that or the lessor.

At a pure guess, it depends on the actual end of the lease but if outside, I'd say the lessor.

Ruby Tuesday arrived back yesterday/today so things are looking good an ontime departure potentially for VTOP

I really want to book a PE seat from LGW in Feb - but there is no way I will do so unless I know I will not get VTOP. VS should not be charging the same for old PE as New PE it is robbery. After the clapped out seat I had this Feb I vowed never again. A 1 in 8 chance (or on a round Trip 1 in 4) of getting VTOP makes VS a no go. If they advertised a 25% reduction in price for an inferior product that would be fair but the won't! rant over!

An idea in principle, but...
"Due to an aircraft change you will now be travelling on Ruby Tuesday. We are aware that some passengers will have paid less because Virginia Plain was schedule to fly this route. Affected passenger will now be charge a supplement of £200 at check-in to bring the cost into line with other aircraft. We accept cash, debit or credit cards."

Surely the chance of getting her on both the out and inbound legs is still 1 in 8?

I can see your point. Two refits not used today. As a customer service move surely VTOP should only be used now when all other aircraft are unavailable

Five days out of the skies, seems like Virginia Plain is on her way out at last! ^)

As we seem to have a couple of threads running about G-VTOP, I am going to lock this thread and ask that all discussions continue in the more recent thread which can be found
here.
Thanks.
