Hi, sorry to mention another airline!
I am off to NY on Saturday with Virgin, just for a change!
On the following weekend I have to go back to NY again. I looked at the Virgin price and it was £4.6k
Delta's price is £2.7k
Is Virgin really worth that much more?
Normally the difference is a few hundred pounds.
I have heard very good things about the Delta cabin layout and the new seat, I am not a lover of the Virgin seat.
Anyone had any experience?
Thanks
Gerry

I flew J on Delta on the LHR/NYC route a couple of years ago and posted a brace of TRs. They were excellent.
I was a tad nervous as DL had not too good a reputation but the price difference was just too much for me to ignore. I even posted on here asking 'anyone flown DL' asking for reassurance.

The price difference will be down to VS selling its low fare class seats whereas DL hasn't. At other times you might find the fares to be closer, so it's not necessarily a question of 'worth'.
That said, for your dates and that difference I would go on DL. As TB and others say, they've improved a lot in recent years and while it's still no VS it does seem very good.

Thank you for your replies.
Tonybear, seriously impressive review, I am going to book Delta now. I agree brand loyalty (two-way!) is important, but cost is an important factor too and this differential is too much to swallow!
Cheers

I flew Delta back in June. It was my first business class experience so don't have anything to compare it to but I thought it was fantastic. Service and food was great, nothing too much trouble for the crew, the novelty of being able to lie flat was something new to me but I found the seat very roomy and comfortable and loved the way it could be controlled by buttons to an infinte number of positions!

I last flew with DL to NYC in BusinessElite in August. The seats are staggered with your feet extending underneath the table in the row in front (like Etihad). The service was very good - good food choice and wine selection. If you get a single window seat, you have lots of space. I recommend seat 10D on the B764.
The seat was comfortable but is very narrow at the feet. I am 6'2 and with size 12 feet and found My feet were somewhat "wedged" when in the lie flat position. I prefer the VS seat but haven't tried the Dream Suite yet.
I would recommend Delta to NYC. I fly with the them or VS across the pond.
I prefer Virgin mainly because of their great crew but for the price you have been quoted, go Delta.

Cheers
