NYC for £1297 in UC

Just doing some 'what if I went away just after New Year ...' and it came up with the above fare which is an absolute bargain

http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/gb/en/id ... fares.html

Book before 5th Dec for outbound travel 14 Dec - 4th Jan and return by 11th Jan.

I was going to cash in my miles but TBH reward availability is carp on my dates (especially the return) and given I'd have to pay ~ £500 in extortion fees sorry YQ etc anyway the extra £777 is well worth it.

I also inadvertently clicked on the M=M fares which came out as £1000 more plus 15k miles ! :0 :0

(edit - now looked on Expedia and there are other airlines with similar prices too so maybe I might try BA ! :P :P :P )

Yes, it's been mentioned in a few other threads. Similar fares were around last year and both VS and BA are doing some great fares again around the festive period.

Return Blacky !

You fancy another trip so soon after the last? Mind if Mrs Blacky still isn't speaking to you after the 'great pavlova incident' you may fancy a trip away !

It's my birthday Xmas day and I may just treat myself,I'm so desperate to fly UC and I can't imagine the prices would get any lower would they?
Ps we got back on talking terms in the week but think I'm in the doghouse cos I got in late with a chinky for one! Ha ha

That is about as cheap as it gets for UC, but do note that the return date is before 11th Jan, so you haven't got long.

Personally I would spend a bit more and go further afield, for me UC is bit wasteful for a NY flight, especially on the daytime sector, of course YMMV.

There are sale fares on for around the New Year period , best to check the VS site.

There are indeed.

I was thinking of DC but then realised that things might be limited due to the Presidential events later in January

I know they started building some of the stands before election day around the Capitol for example.

Plus I do love New York 8D 8D

Yes, it does get cheaper, it was about 1K across the board for UC fares last christmas. I know it was a long shot it would be repeated, but I suspect its all to do with how much BA is offering...

Having had a look on expedia it is a common price across several airlines including VS/BA/DL/UA/LX etc etc (well +/- £50)

I'm getting taken with the BA option from LCY though - just to say I've done it ! lol

Yes, I think that they were £1,006 fares to mark the Olympics (2 for £2,012).

Also, there were some very good fares to the East Coast earlier this year. I can't recall them all but I think that IAD, for instance, was not much over £1,000. I have a feeling that Vancouver was very good too, but can't remember the price.

However, I'd say that £1,300 is still a pretty good sale fare to NYC. Recent sales have seen that destination at £1,600, so this is a pretty good offer.

It's snowing today, but not much. You might be lucky around that time though. I hope so too.

PM me if you want any info. I've lived here for nearly three years.
