V-Flyer

OK my seat map has opened up for our flight to SFO on a 747-400. Can some helpful V-Flyer give me some tips on which seats to pick? This is our first UC trip (we have spent ALL our airmiles) and more importantly we are eloping (ssshh no-one knows) so I would like to make it as special as possible. Any help gratefully received. Welcome to the world of UC!! It's great to let you know! I've been lucky to fly UC 3 times!

I travel with my girlfriend and I always aim to get seats 6a &6k as there at the front of the nose and are closer together! I've sat there twice! Or if there gone go for 7a&7k there still equally good!

Also take advantage of the lounge to even the fast track security! It's less stress for you on the day!

I think you'll find the dividers are now fixed and cannot be removed.

For a LHR 747 to SFO, look ar 12A/K. Very close, facing each other and you can play footsie. Down side, no overhead there. 1A/K are similar but you are further apart and have a toilet next to you.

I've been lucky enough to travel UC a number of times, both alone and with my wife.
On a 747 I would definitely go for the front cabin. Contrary to some comments I find adjacent seats ie 7A/8A fine. Unless you have the very two front seats you won't be able to have a private conversation across the cabin. The divider isn't too high and you can sit on the footstool to chat and have meals together.
Hope you have a great time - the flight to SFO is a good 10-11hrs so plenty of time to enjoy the experience.
The SFO clubhouse is also one of my favourites.

Hi there, congratulations on the upcoming nuptials and on blagging a couple of G's y)
My wife and I have been lucky enough to fly in UC on several occasions we have tried several different options and have found the front of the A zone suits couples best, on the LHR fleet of 747s this is 12 A+K, it gives you some privacy along with the ability to talk to each other whilst still seated. The only draw back with this part of the cabin is that the first two rows in UC downstairs have no overhead bins.

Make sure you get to LHR early to enjoy the Clubhouse ): .

Have a look at the seatmap on the VS site - it shows the seat numbers in UC a little more clearly. Just so you are clear - the 744s that fly to SFO (VS19/20) are configuration 4. On those:

1) The upstairs (aka bubble) has 5 rows of 2 suites, numbered 1-5 A and K. Its quiet up there and you may get a chance to talk to the captain or first officer as they wander past to the loo or for a leg stretch.

2) Rows 6 to 11 don't exist.

y) 3) Downstairs in the nose (aka A-zone) you have 7 rows of 2 seats numbered 12 to 19 A and K. This zone is preferred as a) it is quieter, noise wise; b) there is no through foot traffic; c) there is more space between the rows, so there is an extra air of spaciousness compared to everywhere else on the plane. The table for the IFBT uesd to be here but its open space now.

4) Behind the A-zone is the remaining UC cabin with rows numbered 20-25 and 4 suites across for 4 of the 6 rows. At the back of this is the bar. (Its important to spend some time there! ). Generally this is the busiest cabin due to the toilets, galley and bar.

Hence the advice above for 12A & K is good for quiet seats close together. Having said that none of the other seats is particularly bad if you are used to flying EC or PE.

Make sure you get to the clubhouse really early if you want a choice of treatment, plus time for a champagne breakfast.

Got 12A and 12K picked. Don't worry we are travelling down to Heathrow the night before so will be at the check in desk probably waiting for it to open to make full use of the lounge. The lounge opens at 7 is that right?

Quick question I will have my wedding dress with me in a carrier (it won't be too big as it is a little 50's style number, not a gypsy wedding style with a massive train)is there somewhere onboard that it could be hung for safekeeping?

Just booked the ceremony so getting properly excited now!
