At long last after what seemed an eternity the seat map opened for our flight to St Lucia in March yesterday at around 90 days 19 hrs ish,but i was not able to choose seats. Up bright and early this morning and after several tries and when the time at the top said 90 days 1 hr and 32 mins i managed to bag economy in the bubble row 79 a b and c. Must admit i am really looking forward to the experience of flying up in the bubble, having flow several times in downstairs economy i used to sort of look at the people getting on board and going upstairs with a bit of envy as before refurb we could never afford the extra cost to try premium economy upstairs but now after the refurbs we can now see what its like, happy days y)

I tried to select seats for my March 23rd flight yesterday at 90D and 18 H but was unable to, so I tried this morning at 90 D 1H 30M and success 31A+C for the outbound flight to SFO.

Seems that Virgin do get the seat maps up a fair while before the 90 day mark (eg like the one for my flight, was around 19 hours before) but does not give you the option to select your seats until at least an hour or 2 before it hits the 90 days. It might be just me but i think the majority of people flying must wait till either olci for seats or wait till they get to the airport because as of this moment all economy seats for my flight in March are available except 5 in the bubble and the percentage they hold back for check in.

Just checked for my VS9 on 5th March and the seat map was open at 90 days + 4 hours. On the downside it's an A330; on the upside I had the choice of any seat in UC. On advice from fellow V-flyers I've gone for 3A/4A.

Just completed the seat request at 90 days for our VS26. Again a choice of any seat in the cabin. Decided to ring the changes from the the outbound and shifted to 3 and 4 K.
I experienced the glitch that others have noted where it shows the seat map, allows you to pick seats and then tells you that they are already assigned. Waited a few hours and then it went away.

Hello
I am currently on 90 days and 23 hours before my outward flight. Do I have to check every hour or should the seat map become available at around 90 days and 2-3 hours?

Excellent, thank you.
I'm trying to bag 2 seats at the back in the rows of 2's on the 747 so need to be on the ball!
Another question about the 90 days thing. My flight back in at 19:00 Orlando time so will the seat map become available at the 90 day mark Orlando time or UK time....having a bit of trouble working this out...

The upper deck on the LGW/MAN/GLA 744's is a spilt of both Premium Economy in the front section and Economy in the rear section now.

I've just hit the 90 day mark today for my VS flight to MCO but I am encountering the same issue at 90 days 23 hours it would not show a seat map, at 90 days 14 hours it showed a seat map and now at 90 days and 10 hours showing seat map but the option to select is there but wont allow actual allocation of seats will keep trying as above as I think it will be the 2 hour thing or actually just below 90.

Virgin seem to ignore your requests for seats anyway!!

!
The night before OLCI , our seats which we reserved 90 days prior were still in their allocated positions.
When I went to OLCI, our seats had been moved without any consultation/email/phone call or anything!
After a 35 minute 0844 phone call to virgin, I was told "maybe because of weight distribution". They must think I'm gullible!
They even announced during taxi that extra legroom seats were still available for £30!
Are Virgin going the same way as Ryanair? Charging you to breathe on their plane?
Unless next weeks flight home is decent, I won't be flying them again to MBJ! Perhaps First Choice are better or break the journey in MIA is the answer with Oneworld and not VS!
Very disappointed with VS. v(

That is really annoying, but my experience over the years is that it doesn't happen all the time.

I just tried mine this morning at 90 days and 4 hours and the seat map was showing but error message when selecting seats. Tried again at 90 days 3 hours 52 minutes and seat selection went through, although try a couple of different seats as first ones I picked were not available even though they were selectable

Was that the 'those seats not available, leaving you where you were' style message? I had that a few times, but left it a couple of hours and hey ho I could pick them.

Yes that was it, when you get that message it looks like the seat selection will become live soon

90 days plus 12 hours for us and whilst seat map is up and "selectable" seats can't be selected yet. Same pattern as reported previously. Will try again tomorrow a.m.

Forgot to do it on time, still managed to grab seats though, exact same ones inbound and outbound, not what I wanted but could have been worse.

Seats selected at 90 days 3 hours.
Is this going to be like "seq1" - who can request seats earliest?
