good morning from a Thomson plane at Gatwick...

Currently sitting here going nowhere as the cloud level at Innsbruck is too low (600 feet whereas apparently it needs to be 900 feet to allow landing).

Crossing my fingers we don't get diverted to Salzburg as that's a pretty long transfer to Mayrhofen...

At least I managed a good breakfast, but these seats really are small and uncomfortable!

No, not a 787 sadly, rather an old-ish 757-200. And after sitting on the tarmac for a good 2 hours, the pilot announced we were being diverted to Munich, which was not what we wanted to hear at all as it would have been a good 3-4 hour transfer from there - when the coaches eventually arrived of course.

So it was with a great sense of relief that just after we started our descent, the pilot told us all to look out of the left side of the plane, where we would see that we were passing... Munich airport! Apparently while airborne, the weather had improved, and we were able to revert to the original flight plan and land at Innsbruck. The small airport was absolutely mobbed as clearly lots of planes had landed all at once, but big result there nonetheless. Now just relaxing on board the coach and looking forward to some good powder tomorrow...

Thank you all for your kind wishes, which I have to say worked a treat!

A severe case of deja vu at Innsbruck today... Low cloud over the airport and just waiting for the inevitable announcement that our plane has been diverted to Munich...

Oh well, at least no bones were broken this week, unlike several others sitting in the airport cafe. Mustn't grumble too much...

Deja vu indeed, and someone is definitely smiling on me. 2 minutes after my last post, our plane landed, it had apparently been circling for half an hour in the hope of a break in the cloud. Whereas the last 6 flights due in all went to Munich. Result.

Although still have to hope we can actually take off, but we are boarding at least...

Thank you again Hiljil. All's well that ends well again, we took off only about 45 mins late, so much more fortunate than the hundreds of other poor souls that had to get coaches over to Munich...

Think I've used up my quota of luck for the year already...

I had this last year, although we got diverted to Salzburg on the return flight! Terrible transfer that but Austria was suffering it's heaviest snow for many years last January. Then I always find it's a terribly bumpy flight out of Austria wherever I take off from! :(
