Evening to you all, just been looking through some of the movements for the 747's recently and have noticed Virginia Plain has not flown over the past couple of days,is this the end of the old girls days with Virgin,I personally would feel sad if this was the case, she flew us to our first family holiday to Orlando so gives me very fond memories, but I suppose if your time is up,it's up.

Sadly I think you're the only one who is going to miss her! She should be leaving soon.

What will happen to VTOP after its final passenger service, will it do the same as those A340's that were retired last year, she's not the only one leaving this year. G-VGOA and G-VATL will leave as well apparently

Hopefully they will let it fester under the Arizona sun.

As 747s go G-VTOP is not old, built and delivered in 1997, so she may get further use if anyone is left in the market for a slightly used 744. Perhaps for conversion to a freighter. Otherwise I fear it's a sun tan in the desert for her!

I for one will be sorry to see her go as she took my Virgin(ity)on the VS43 many years ago. Hope she finds a good home rather than the scrapyard..

We are due to fly PE on the VS33 2nd Feb and will be very disappointing if this plane is on that route.
I'm sure that many people have fond memories but these are from the deep and distant past. I once had a great experience in a DC3 but not sure it would be the same now.

Indeed, BA is still flying 747's which were built in 1989/1990, so really VS flyers are lucky on the whole that VS has such a young fleet.

I don't think the age of the aircraft matters as long as it has been maintained . It's the condition of the interior , the IFE, and overall service. Personally I would rather fly on a 30 year 747 than a new 343 as I love that aircraft.

BA kept some of their 'classic' 747s in service until they were nearly 29 years old.
Virginia Plain is only 6 months older than G-VAST (Ladybird) and was my first time in UCS way back in 2005. I hope they decide to renew the lease and refit the old gal. y)

After been on the ground for 6 days VTOP is doing 029 BGI today. It must have been in for a check! Does anyone know the actual date it's leaving as I'm flying to MCO in march both ways 747 and I Do Not want to see this parked at the gate when I'm boarding!
