Not impressed with my first 90 day seating request...

The PE seat map has just opened up for my family Easter flight to ANU, and there appears to be plenty of seat choices (although there are only 6 seats showing in the bubble, guess that's the VH allocation issue again).

But whatever I try and choose, I get the message "We're sorry, the seat(s) you have chosen are not available. You are still shown in your original seat(s)". But of course, I don't have an original seat allocated in the 1st place :(!

Think I might give them a call tomorrow...

are you at 90 days + some hours, or 89 days 23hrs

You are too early still, you get this error message when the seat map isn't fully active yet. Try again in a few hours.

Yes, fair enough, it is 90 days plus a few hours, I just figured that when it said I could choose my seats, it meant that I could, erm, choose my seats!

I'll give it another go in the morning.

Hi,not sure if this info will help but for my outbound flight to St Lucia I had the same message saying we were still in the same allocated seats but were invisable, then at about 90 days,1 hour 30 minutes I was able to request my seats. This morning I logged on to manage my booking for my return flight and at nearly the exact same time I was able to request those seats as well, seems that you have to be at least within 3 hours or so of the 90 day mark of outbound/inbound flight before the system is fully up and running for you to do the seat request although I'm not sure if this varies by route or airport.

You will learn that Virgin's IT bring a new dimension to binary.

I really shouldn't need reminding about Virgin's IT I guess... Anyway all sorted now, rows 18/19 bagged so should be 1st off the plane...

Also see that I wasn't the first one in on the act either as 2 more of the seats in the bubble have gone too. Heaven forbid there's anyone else more obsessive than me out there!

It's me. But not on this flight. I sit there hitting refresh constantly.

Interesting it was the same story on the inbound in terms of seats in the bubble being blocked out before they were available for selection. Only 6 out of 20 notionally available (22-24 H/K), and they were all gone by early this morning. Ho hum, downstairs again for us... And in the middle as well because the window seats are also all gone. I seem to recall a comment in another thread that this whole 90 day issue for seat requests should not be a big deal because the vast majority of flyers are not going to be obsessively sitting waiting to bag seats, well that's not what I'm seeing. Very egalitarian of course, but not much help when my kids were angling to sit upstairs for the 1st time in their lives, and at this rate I'll end up siding with the BA camp that gives seating choice priority based on status. Grrr....

One question, does the downstairs PE toilet door face directly onto 19G? That's the row I'm now parked in on the basis that you'll at least get the benefit of reclining early with no issues of etiquette with no one behind... But if the loo position negates that, I'll just move further forward...

Strange too how we too are only faced with centre seats in Row 19 being available :? :? - albeit our booking was made way after to 90 Day point.

I will be eagerly watching the seat map opening up at T - 24 hours ):
