Ok - Delicate subject I know.
My question is simple - why doesn't it work ?|
I decided to give it a go my last two trips. No calls, that would be bad form :0
I get the txt msg from (+1) 234 saying "Welcome on board..."
Send a txt, never gets received. Someone sends me a txt at an agreed time, I get it when I land!!
I have full international roaming etc, etc
Anyone else seen this?? Phone is an iPhone 5.
No Android jokes. LOL n(

Have never had a problem with it when I've tried!
What network are you on? It only works on o2 and Vodafone (with only vodafone supporting data access it seems!)

I think it only works with only O2 and vodafone at the moment. Who is your network?

hmmm! If its an iPhone may want to try turning off iMessage next time as it may be trying to send it as that (although that should work anyway as Vodafone allows data access) only thing I can think of!

Thanks Duggy83 - Will try.
I kinda like a gadget and alike so it not working is a little frustrating. I will have another go next time. I can see it getting to the point of breaking the cardinal rule and calling someone v( v( Just to see if it works that way.
Plus all those hours without being able to play SongPop are killing me

Remember as well that AeroMobile won't work when the aircraft is anywhere in USA airspace.

Why would you want to use it anyway?

Whilst a very good point slinky09, It's there and it didn't work.
I can understand the phone calls being a no go. v(
I would personally find it useful if I could draft a few emails and send them off, or a least get a txt msg as an update to a situation / deal update on the ground. Not everyone's cup of tea I agree.

Having WiFi would be very useful, having mobile calling is zero use. I really don't know why VS went down this route ...

Perhaps I have misunderstood the whole setup. I understood, that while not WiFi, you could still roam using data?? Is there no 3G?? I must admit I didn't look at the handset that much in-flight, just tried the txt msg.

You can use data (is only Vodafone that supports this however!)
Is cheaper than alot of people think it'd be actually - is £5 for a days access (only upto 25mb able to be downloaded however!)
Would imagine that as it is restricted to just vodafone and that alot of people would think there'd be huge charges for data access is limiting the takeup of it!
If there was WiFi available instead can imagine it getting alot more use however

I tried it back in September on my Vodafone iPhone 4S and got no signal at all.
Gave up and went back to airplane mode after about 5 mins.
