hi
i am flying from london to delhi on PE. i have managed to save enough miles to upgrade to UC from london to delhi and hopefully would have saved enough miles to upgrade on the return leg. what i wanted some advice on is it better to try and upgrade from london or try at the counter from delhi? my husband and sons ticket is on a reward seat in PE and i know normally you can not upgrade to UC with those seats unless they have room.

any help would be appreciated.

thanks

Hi - if you let us know your dates we can look at the loads and give you some indication of whether seats might be available - either that or if you 'pretend' to book a miles seat on the VS website for your dates you'll see whether you can upgrade now (often called a dummy booking)?

To upgrade you need to be on a S or W fare in PE, if you are K then it won't be possible. Are you husband and son's tickets on a miles redemption, MPM, or upgraded with an Amex voucher? If the former and if there is space then they could also upgrade with more miles.

Many thanks Slinky09,
my husband and son are coming back on the 23rd of April. Yes they did buy reward seats and then upgrade using amex vouchers. but i know sometimes from reading this forum that people do indeed use their miles and upgrade at the airport. i guess i was asking if i could try here from london and if there were any tips for delhi any magic 'open sesame' or the like i could say that might make the counter staff allow it to happen.

i just wanted to also say you are all very kind and generous people helping others form your own good will. i have an anxiety and depression problem and i really appreciate when others simply go out of their way to help when it is not required.

so a huge thank you to all the moderators and frequent posters

My personal experience of Delhi is that the check-in staff are far more flexible and accommodating than in London. Probably because they only have one flight a day to worry about and also ... well this is India !!!
