VS200 questions

I'm flying LHR-SYD (UC) in a few weeks and I hope the knowledgeable folks on here can help answer some queries I have.

1. With there being no change of plane, must we take all our hand-luggage off during the refuelling stop in Hong Kong? I last flew to SYD with KLM (years ago) and it wasn't necessary to vacate the aircraft completely during the refuelling stops so I'm wondering how it works with VS?

2. Is the HKG Clubhouse airside? If not, is it worth the hassle of getting there for such a short stop? I might fancy a shower so it would be nice to stop for a little while if its feasible.

3. Any tips for clock-setting that will best help us adjust to the different time-zone for such a long flight? I ask this because I remember really struggling before...

Thanks in anticipation!

Hi there

1. Yes you must.
2. Yes it is and it is certainly worth it. You will have to go to the gate regardless so you might as well go to the CH which is just above the gate. The staff are fantastic.
3. I would not be too fussed about sleeping for a long time on the first sector. I would try to have a good sleep on the SYD leg so you have a reasonable chance of getting through that first day. However, with such a brutal change of time zones, I don't think you can really avoid jet-lag -- it's just inevitable.

Have a great flight!

Hi Rod10

at240 has answered all your queries so I do not have a lot more to add, the HK clubhouse is a real gem, use it and enjoy, I look forward to it every time :D

Enjoy the whole flight also, I find I am OK on the way over,up to the bar every now and again breaks the flight nicely, its the return that I can't handle, sleepy as soon as I get on the aircraft and for many days after!

Another thumbs up for the Clubhouse. The staff are the stars. Last time I arrived they remembered me and had a glass of champagne and a sorbet waiting on the terrace after my shower.

Normally the flight lands into HK early go through security upstairs And into the clubhouse.

Boarding starts at minus 30 in Hong Kong giving you extra time to relax and with the clubhouse being right next to the gate you can enjoy more time in the clubhouse.
