Hello fellow v-flyers!!
Long time lurker first time poster! I'm off to San Francisco in march and was wondering which side of the plane is best for take off and landing?! (ie is A side best for landing and K for take off?!)
Thanks for your help

Welcome
Unfortunately it varies depending on the weather and the actual route flown / runway allocated.
A few years ago I was returning from SFO and we were given an unusual route that took us over the city giving (according to the Captain) spectacular views of the city - but only if you were on the K side!

You will land on 28L/R regardless of approach path. I like the 'K' side view of the bay on final but the approach into the bay area does vary. I live there and fly out monthly it feels like we usually come in with the golden gate out the 'A' side which makes for an amazing view on a clear day. BTW, on take-off the city and bridge are out the 'K' side (always).
Like tontybear mentioned sometimes you will come in out of napa and right over the city, I've only done that a couple times. Either way you slide down to San Jose and do a U-turn for final approach, if only they would let you have your camera on!

And check out this video!

Forget the view, make sure you get to immigration as soon as possible ii)
There can be long "lines", make sure you have been to the loo before disembarking the plane.
Save the sightseeing till you have recovered from the trip, one of the greatest cities in the world y)
