Seat Upgrade Options

Hi all, I'm looking for a quick bit of advice. I'm booking a last minute flight to LAX for the 15th March. Unfortunately PE is very expensive so it's going to have to be economy this time. I do have enough points to upgrade to UC (50K) but sadly there is no avaibility. So I'm wondering if the best option might be to try and pay for a door seat to at least get a bit of extra space. It's been a little while since I've flown economy, is there is an option to book and pay for a door seat in advance online?

If anyone has any other clever ideas on how to use my miles to upgrade I'd appreciate them! Can't say I'm looking forward to 11 hours in economy!

Thanks in advance!

Along with exit row seats, which you can pre-book for £75 each way, there are extra leg room seats, which offer another 4" leg room over a standard economy seat, these also can be pre-booked for £30 each way (I believe that is the current rate).

Always worth asking about upgrade availability when you arrive at the airport.

If there are still seats left in UC, there's a chance they'll sell them for cash (or, if you're really lucky, miles) irrespective of whether there were any Gs available.

Don't expect them to give them away but if you're willing to pay, you never know. Anything goes at the airport ...
