Seat selection

Please help.
I have booked a holiday through Virgin Holidays. The time has come to select my seats on the VA website. I select the seats and when I hit confirm it says "We're sorry, the seat(s) you have chosen are not available. You are still shown in your original seat(s)."

I am selecting available seats which put the selection into the box beside my name and I cannot find the original seats as they are not marked?

Any ideas?

Chris

Happy to :D

Lol, blame Virgin Holidays..... the travel agents (VH in this case) tend to hold onto the bookings until T-24 when it becomes the check-in desks' problem. :P

If you want to change seats I'm afraid you will have to give VH a call and ask them what is available.

Good Luck 8D

I would guess that your booking is for a flight in 90 days and x hours. The seat selection system tends to do that until you flight is in 89 days 23 hours and 59 mins.

:? I favour Chill's explanation, not least as I experienced exactly the same symptoms for a couple of hours on my VS booked flight once the seat map had become available at 90 days + a few hours. There are also a number of threads on here that tell the same tale.

Yes, unless the OP is well inside the 90 day window, then it is likely to be the glitch where the seat maps open at 90 days and x hours but isn't actually active yet. Give it a few hours and then try again and all should be okay.

VH customers are fine to allocate seats at 90 days so that should not be the issue.

Do you not need to call VH and get a diff booking ref generated to use the VS seat assignment?

Sorry cebain, I thought they were different - they were last time I used VH, but that was some time ago ii)

Apologies :#

The OP can access the MMB page, and the seat map, it just won't let them save a seat selection, which is the 90 day + a few hours issue.

I guess it affect us impatient types who are sat checking every few hours before the true 90 day mark.

If the OP didn't have the 'correct' booking reference they wouldn't be able to see the seat map or access any other aspect of Manage My Booking... :w

A fair point... perhaps I should just sit under my desk and keep quiet. :#

Failing that, it sounds like I massively misunderstood the way it works! Unless I am seeing and hearing things, which given the massive amount of coffee currently coursing through my system would not be surprising. :| :|

Ahhhh, OK I have figured out what I am confusing it with i) i) I am confusing the damned upgrade annoyance of the travel agents and VH holding the bookings from changes until T-24, that mean you have to upgrade through them as opposed to being able to with VS - dear lord.... Right Ignore me people I clearly need to cut back my caffeine intake, or hit myself over the head to slow the hamster living in my brain from sprinting around his wheel.
Thank god there are some here paying attention oo) oo)

Haha less coffee for you joeyc!

It is only just inside the 90 days. I have the other ref for going to the manage booking section on VA site. Hopefully just a glitch. Will try again later on.

Thanks folks.

And for his hyperactive head hamster. HHH syndrome, as we commentators like to call it, can only be cured by extensive application of a curious blend of green tea and JD.

Every few hours is not impatient. I think it is positively pedestrian. I am hitting the refresh button almost constantly whilst awake from T-95 ! Yes, I should seek help. :)

I must be sad as I am on the VA site checking every half hour. Becoming more and more frustrated at not being able to save the selection though. It is our Wedding trip and I want to make sure we are sat together. Well at least on the way there haha. :)

Oh further question. Why on the seat selection map do they make the first and last 2 rows in PE unavailable?

Believe it or not I got the ones I was after. It appears I am the only sad one in PE who counts down to the minute you can pick your seats haha
