Last minute aircraft change, premium economy booked

Hi everyone, I hope someone might see this who can advise. I'm flying to Newark this afternoon. I checked in earlier and I should be in premium economy. I had got seat 33C. The flight was supposed to be a 747. Now the aircraft has changed according to this website to an a340-600 and on that plane 33C is an economy seat. Is this something I should sort out at the gate and is there a risk I could be stuck in economy?

Thanks to anyone who can advise.

You won't be put in economy, you'll have a different seat in PE.

Thanks Slinky. That's a relief. :-) and apologies if it's a silly question to ask.

If you are downgraded, you are entitled to a refund of 75% of the return fare under EU law.

Well I got 21C now though they are asking if I mind moving to economy and row 40 so a family can sit together. I hope this doesn't sound mean but I don't see why I should really.

Not mean at all. You booked PE so are entitled to be in PE.

Say you'd be happy to move to a lower seat number ;-)

Thanks everyone. I'll happily offer to move towards the front of the plane if the chance comes my way. ;-) it'll be sorted when we board apparently.

Why should you move towards the back? What ? No. Be firm and be aggressive if need be.-;)
Although if they offer you upper class , then hmmmm, I wonder if you should actually consider.-;) enjoy your flight

No don't be aggressive that's a daft suggestion, and thankfully wouldn't get you very far anyway,

A340-600 is my favourite, far better than 747 in my opinion -- enjoy the flight!!

I believe the SFO flight was delayed today due to an engine issue on the 747. SO looks like they have taken the 747 due to operate the VS1 for the SFO leaving an A340 for the VS1.

It was all fine though very delayed and i was in PE. The SFO flight had engine issues and turned back, I think it was bird strike. They did use the 747 intended for VS1 on the SFO route instead. The big delay was having to get the flight crew to Heathrow as it was an airbus. At least I breezed through immigration and customs at Newark quickly. The service on the flight seemed reduced from normal. No drink on boarding and no snack/drink once up in the air. There was dinner and then the pre-landing snack.

I remained in PE and the timing of the flight meant I got to watch a beautiful sunset for 7 hours. The captain took extra fuel on so he could fly faster as well (so he said) it took 6 hours 52 minutes.
