V-Flyer

I need the assistance of the insatiable wealth of knowledge that is my troop of fellow v-flyers.

I'm planning (more of a pipe dream for the moment) a little jaunt for my birthday (14th July) for 4-7 days. I'll be travelling alone from Accra, preferably in UC. My first thought was Vegas but I could see nothing less than $7k (big aside: I would obviously prefer to not pay that much if possible but similar to Blacky's recent quandary the 20TPs and 30k+ miles would take me within 4 TPs of Au and make it very tempting)

For that price I can go First on Emirates to pretty much anywhere in Asia including a 2 day stopover in Dubai, as well as have enough change to cover 4/5 star accommodation for the whole trip...

I realise that it is an insane amount if money for a young student/consultant but I live for travel so would happily sacrifice everything else if a trip seems worth it.

To clarify the actual question of my stupidly long diatribe, which trip would you take if given the option and what would be my options for possibly using miles to upgrade if I did opt for Vegas (I'm sitting on about 55k at the moment).

For what it's worth I'd go for EK First. It's supposed to be a special trip so I think flying first would make it that more special.

On the other hand, if you're determined to go for gold, then try that, but consider other destinations.

I would be tempted with the EK first option as its one of my ambitions but for 7k you could do a lot of hopping around the US and earn those TP's.if you were to do that maybe just start the trip in PE and take a few internals with VX to boost the TP's and see a lot of the states

Flying into LAX or SFO is usually cheaper than LAS and if you take a VX First return between LAS/SFO and LAS you will also acquire the four TP to reach AU y)

If it is tier points you are after why not fly VS in to Boston PE, then fly VX to SFO, few days there, then get another VX flight down to Vegas and spend a few days there??
If you plan it right you might even be able to get the returns and double up of the tier points.
Lots of options here I think. This will not cost you 7k and leave you all that money for Vegas

I'm much more of a fan of the US than Asia so the US would get my vote.

Is 7 days your maximum?
