interesting Little Red boarding priority

So, sitting in the LHR T1 domestic departure area just now and a Little Red flight to EDI is called. The first group of people called are 'transit passengers from another Virgin flight'. Sounded a bit odd - I mean, not as though there's any urgency at that stage of a transit? Perhaps VS are trying to make their transit passengers feel special, although deciding on a single terminal to use would probably be more helpful in that regard!

My own BA flight followed the more traditional 'gold and silver, then everyone else' pecking order.

More an observation than anything else, as I've never really seen the point of priority boarding on short domestics, although my flights are rarely anywhere near full.

Or perhaps as a bit of PR to promote the idea there's some joined up thinking :w and they aren't just another domestic airline.

Practically, I've always put this down to the potential fight for overhead locker space. Less practically,no point in having status if others don't know about it... :D

Haha Yes of course PJH .... Status is Everything !!!

Personally I think calling forward transit customers is very good. If you made a long hall journey I think you really want to be boarding just ASAP so I believe Virgin have it bang on here. Anything to give a more complete flight through, to and from the regions has got to be a bonus !

Having just done a return to EDI with little red, both the flights from LHR were late leaving, both had 'luggage issues' i.e. removal of luggage that didn't have a passenger attached. My guess would be the transfer passenger had not cleared the fun game of 'how many desks and how long are the queues in T3 immigration'. Maybe Virgin need to stop loading the transfer baggage until they are sure they have the transfer passenger??

I think VS would love to have long and short haul in one terminal, but until T3 gets facilities to handle domestic flights it can't happen.
