A possibly very daft question!

So after building a semi healthy balance of miles, we are looking to buy an M fare and then upgrade to upper.

The question is this. If VS have a sale do
M fares get discounted at all. I understand that prices will reflect availability and it will be more expensive than a discounted Y ticket but purely asking on anyone's previous experience. We are very flexible on destination and have a rough date of September so just want to time it right...

I think they only tend to include the cheapest non-upgradable fare buckets in sales unfortunately.

It depends on the destination as well. Some appear regularly in sales and others don't

The risk of waiting to see if a 'cheap' M appears is that there are are no seats in UC for you to upgrade into.

Not a daft question at all -- in fact it is an excellent question. Like gumshoe I think the answer is 'no'. But it would be great to know for sure.
