I would say yes as they are virgin atlantic flights. If in doubt get in touch with DELTA to try and book a flight.

Actually just managed to do a dummy booking on Delta.com and it will allow, but wants 25000 sky miles and $151 in fees per person. Not sure where the benefit is there! :0

Presumably 25000 is the lowest return flight award that DL will offer (inc USA.) Add to that the stupid UK APD and its no wonder it is unattractive. I believe Little Red flights are about 1-10 quid and the rest is all tax for the cheapy fares

Spending miles on domestic flights has always been a waste of miles as the tax/fees are usually more than the base fare.

At least VS (and also BA) now charge a ~£30 fixed fee + miles for domestic reward fares. BA also do them on a sliding scale too where you can spend fewer miles but pay a higher fee.

VS are also currently running a sale on LR flights at the moment, starting from £45 one-way MAN>LHR, where the base fare is actually £0.00 :)

Fare breakdown from a random MAN-LHR and return Flight
Base fare = 0

UK Passenger Service Charge UB GBP 42.69
UK Air Passenger Duty GB GBP 26.00
Operating Airline Fuel & Insurance Surcharge YQ GBP 34.00

So on that fare the APD is the lowestelement and VS taking £34 as their 'fuel surcharge'.

So no the rest is not all tax at all.

Oh and on BA the fuel surcharge is £37 with the same APD and Airport fees.
