As the title says really ,going back on Friday and again looking anything but a full flight ,been in nov ,jan and may and don't think I've been on a full flight yet ,are the amount of daily flights on this route economically viable ?

You have been lucky Blacky.... I have been on some very full ones over the past 6 months.

Will just have to see how the loads are when they get the JV schedule properly running in sync.

Always seems to me that there are g fares always there to be snapped up at short notice joey !

Good thought, hopefully this could increase reward availability for those last minutes jaunts across the pond. 8D

I don't believe VS would run the schedule it does if these flights didn't make money - let us know how many people are on board when you do fly but consider this:

- Because it's a business heavy route many don't book until near the day ...
- Also because it's business heavy Friday is not the most popular day to travel ...

I've done more than 20 round trips to JFK or EWR in the last year and can't recall one with less than 50% of the seats full - most are 90% to completely full when taking the FSM's headcount before take off.

And even if the flight is light on some days it's loads and yields only matter over an extended period of time to determine if it is economic or not.

And a light flight still needs to go out to NYC because the inbound may be chock-a-block.

So looking in isolation is not really that helpful.

And imagine the PR (negative) if VS regularly cancelled a NYC flight because of light loads - I can imagine headlines like 'VS in trouble ...' - that won't apply when it does it on a route like LGW-MCO

And the importance of a regular schedule needs to be taken into account too - especially now with the joint schedule with DL and the proposals to adjust some if the departure times to even out the service.

You also need to think about the amount of freight being carried too. A full hold can easily make up for what seems an empty flight.
