Aeroflot wants out of SkyTeam

I know only tenuously connected to VS but there has been a lot of talk of whether VS should join ST now that there is a strong bond with DL.
According to the Bangkok Post (ok maybe not 100% reliable) Aeroflot wants to leave SkyTeam as the promised benefits are not there. It is forced to price match other ST members when they fly the same routes even when it can viably undercut them.
It is claimed the extra traffic from being in ST has not materialised and it is too DL dominated. Even though it will cost them $20m to leave (no breakdown of how they get that number) they are thinking of going to *A - perhaps on the basis that it has a more rounded membership base and not so DL focussed.

That's an interesting point about undercutting...

Alliances should not stand in the way of fair competition.
