Hi, Am flying UC on the VS30 on the 2nd July. Just tried OLCI to be given the 'check in not possible' line, seat map also n/a since yesterday indicating a possible equipment change? ?|
A look on Flightstats & expert Flyer shows NO UC seats AT ALL. Surely VS aren't swapping a 3 cabin A330 to a TWO cabin? :0 :0 :0

Blimey!
Looks like VS have well and truly dropped the ball on this one !
ANDY - I'd get on the phone to VS ASAP.

Andy
Just an idea (and in the light of the other thread) -- maybe read up on your EU rights before speaking to VS?
Good luck...

Update from (very helpful) FC AU Helpline (at my expense)
"We won't know until tomorrow morning which plane will operate this service due to a fault with the original aircraft" Oh GREAT!

As per Status Updates looks like G-VINE which has been doing the BGI is sick. Wouldn't worry though i'm sure they will either put you on BA if possible or re-route you some other way if you want to retain the J.
Good Luck!!

Yup G-VINE is ill she's been sat on the tarmac since Sunday(30th june) came into work saw it there wondered what's up she's still there up to this evening when I left no action around her. I'm travelling on Sunday with VS to gatwick so I hope they send back a 747 for the rest of the week...was starting to miss the heavy girls. The 2 class A330 sounds like a last resort thing to me though, like it was the only available aircraft to cover for GVINE.

Which means you're a shoe-in for EU compensation.
Remember an involuntary downgrade = refund of 75% of the ticket cost.

The 75% Refund is a bit of a gamble though. From a friends experience with the blue team when you accept it you are taken from Club straight down to Traveller and lose the lounge, baggage etc versus taking the alternatives and going down a cabin and retaining all bar the seat.
Wonder if VS does the same?

VS does not have a strong history of doing this - they'll likely offer you compensation of some kind for the downgrade. Beware not to sign away your EU mandated rights if so.

Is this EU mandate for 75% refund imposed on the airline for carriage period or would it be nullified if your are Barbadian, we are kinda screwed also...

The nationality of the passenger is irrelevant.
The EU law covers EU airlines and all flights into/out of the EU.

FC line update.
"It will be dealt with at the airport, where they will discuss compensation / difference in fare re-imbursement"
Doesn't sound like they are quoting EU261 verbatim does it.

Nope.
EU161/2004 is quite clear - 75% of the total fare. But it is not described as 'compensation' but as a 'refund'
Compensation is what VS should be offering over and above the regulations.

I'm with Tonty - stand firm. Be interesting to hear what reason VS gives if it argues against EU161/2004 ...

As I have just posted in the other thread, I was downgraded (involuntarily) fairly recently by VS - the airport team offered €300 (yes €) compensation per person, which at the time we took as I couldn't be bothered to argue with them. I did sign their form but this has no impact on us contacting VS on our return, quoting the EU regulations and receiving the 75% refund that they were required to give us.
So, whatever is offered/said to you at the airport, they still have to give you the 75% refund.

Is there a reason why one of the LHR 330's wasnt transfered to LGW and the gap at LHR covered by a spare 346 or 343?? Would that not have been damage limitation??

Possibly because there wasn't one to spare. Apart from the fact that the entire fleet works hard, it is possible that some may well be in Manila or somewhere else in the world having maintenance and checks.

Plus the early LAX was 8 hours delayed yesterday so probably caused a knock on effect headache at LHR
