PLEASE HELP-COMPANION FLIGHTS!

I really hope someone can help me.

I really want to take my parents to Vegas for their Golden wedding Anniversary in about 4 years time and was hoping to save enough miles for some premium economy or even upper class return seats/tickets.

Neither of my parents have flying club accounts - can I book companion seats for both of them and myself if I save enough miles or is there a limit in the number of seats?

Alternatively, what would be the cheapest way to book seats for all 3 of us with my miles (depending on how many I could save obviously between now and then - I have 45000 at the moment).

Please help because I would love to treat them and they have never been to USA but don't want to spend the next few years trying all ways to get miles if ultimately it is impossible for all of us to get tickets

Hi and welcome.

As you specifically asked about them, lets talk about companion tickets. Generally these will not work out a very cheap way to travel or be a good use of your miles. In Upper class, you have to buy a fully flexible J class fare, which could easily set you back about £6000 and then also have to pay the taxes/fees for the companion fare. You could easily however get a discounted Z upper class for for about £2000-2500 (maybe less in a sale) so much cheaper than the J and companion fare.

Sometimes, they can work out as as saving in a PE S fare, but it is still worth checking if two K PE fares are cheaper overall.

They best/cheapest way in my opinion would be to buy an upgradable M economy fare and then upgrade to PE with miles (25k per person round trip). Of course it is important to make sure there a PE miles seats available, just because there are revenue seats doesn't mean you can always buy them with miles. Getting Upper class miles seats to Vegas, when there are only 14 seats per aircraft is very difficult. If UC if your preferred option (it's 50k per person to upgrade from an M fare) then look at SFO and LAX as an option then an internal hop to LAS.
