Having thought they were all about miles and lounges I was encouraged by the support members give each other in the event of trouble.

United stepping in to help is more than just being partners in Star, but they are required to, I think the law is called the "airlien and Railways disaster assistance act, I may be a little off on that.
I am not taking away anything from UA btw, they stepped up big time and their workers should be applauded.

I think it's the Airline Disaster Family Assistance Act, there's a seperate one for railways, either way, I don't think it compells another carrier to help. I think UA are geniunely helping of their own accord.

Thank you, you are correct and you are correct, though it really is in UA's best interest to help get SFO running smoothly again, they certainly deserve a pat on the back for stepping up and helping out when it was needed.
