Cancelation Policy

Hi everyone

Just some advice before I ring Virgin tomorrow. I've booked three tickets to Vegas. Premium economy with miles upgrade to upper class.

One of the lads has rang me and said he can no longer go.

I have someone who wants to go in his place but from what I read name changes are a big no no. Can he get a refund or is he stuck?

Anyone dealt with this before. I kinda think he is just stuck with the ticket but wondered if anyone has any advice?.

Thanks.

You are correct, name changes are not permitted at all.

Regarding a refund, it depends what fare code you booked your PE tickets in. If its S, then no, if its W, then yes. If it is S, then you can claim back any taxes paid still, but not the fare element.

The other obvious angle is travel insurance, but that obviously depends on the reason for the need to cancel.

According to this he (you?) should get the taxes and airport fees back - less an admin fee - but not the fuel surcharge.

I reckon after the admin fee it will be something like £150

As Neil said depending on the reason, travel insurance may be the answer but many will expect to claim as much back direct from VS first.

Not sure about your miles though. Depending on when you are due to travel it's either 0 or 75%

Is rescheduling an option? The change fee will be small in comparison to what you will lose from a cancellation (unless, of course, travel insurance covers it).

Cheers Guys

No we can't reschedule. Me and the other lad still need to go on that date. He has just had to drop out for personal reasons.

Ill ring them today and see how much I can get back by cancelling the ticket. Just wanted to know roughly where I stood before I rang them.

Cheers for the responses. Helpful as always.

Ill let you know the outcome.

Well you were bang on the money.

No name changes allowed at all.

The ticket was non refundable so he can only claim back a portion of the taxes and fess etc.

And yes for £100 you can rebook at a later date although you are liable for any difference in the fare prices.

Guess those are his options.

Cheers for the help again everyone.
