I made Flying Club Gold and then found this website!

I've reached Flying Club Gold and decided to post all my memories of Virgin Atlantic over the years on my blog and stumbled across this website... What fun this all is!
The one thing, over the years I wish I had made a note of all the planes I've been on. My commute is between London and South Africa, JNB and CPT, so I reckon I have been at least every A340-600 that flies from Heathrow and a number of 744s too.
I have two flights that were very forgettable; when I first flew PE on an A346 they plonked me in row 23. Never again!
The other occasion was a few weeks ago to Johannesburg on G-VELD. The aircraft was decidedly from the 80s, looped films and all!
The majority of flights have been fabulous and memorable, on occasion for the wrong reason...
We once had the misfortune to sit next to a rather refreshed Jim Davidson in the Heathrow Clubhouse who insisted on telling us a few jokes. We moved.
As you know, flights to South Africa are always post 8pm which means you get to enjoy sundowners in the Clubhouse.
It's typical - a few glasses of bubbly before boarding, a top up once you're settled into your seat then suddenly you wake up, 2am and in the dark, you've missed dinner and you're halfway over Africa!
I have another few trips this year to South Africa and then South Florida too. Will be sure to post reports from now on. Hello everyone!

I didn't realise we weren't supposed to post URLs so I took it out!
I am going to file a trip report on my last flight VS602. I see the last one was done at the end of 2011 so it needs updating!
And yes, loads of stories - just a pity I've only found this website now.
Loads more adventures to come hopefully!

Welcome to V-Flyer RobertTimothy

You are welcome to post links, just as long as it's not blatant advertising or anything that's unsuitable for everyone to read. Your link was just going to a blank page on your blog that's all that was wrong with it

Pure brilliance, and had to be done

The TR index is the place to write up reports if you have them, no doubt you can fill some gaps and I look forward to reading up on your trials and tribulations 8D

I don't think that comment is called for.
This is a friendly board and people post all sorts of things that others don't find that interesting yet somehow resist the urge to make facile comments.
Anyway welcome to v-flyer RobertTimothy !

While you are entitled to your views and opinions, this really isn't the sort of negative comment we like to see on the site and it certainly does not represent the inclusive nature and spirit we pride ourselves on.
Welcome to the site Robert, and thanks for sharing your blog and travel writings with us. Hopefully you will contribute to the site and it would seem our TR's would be something you would especially be good at, so please feel free to write any for your future flights.
I'll just take this time to remind everyone that it is often a good idea to think before posting and to remember under no circumstances are personal attacks allowed on other members.
Thanks,
Neil

Good Morning ,
Please could I offer my apologies to Robert.
I have my nephew, aged 13 stayiing at my house, he has not put my mini ipad down for the last week and has obviously been having ( what he might think) fun at my expense.
I will be having a word as soon as he gets up.
Sorry
Steve

"As soon as he gets up" ? Drag him out by his ear. Literally. Quite what you were thinking letting a 13 year old have unfettered internet access is beyond me ! Good luck, David Cameron and his mates will be after you soon !

Well, wasn't that was fun...
Thanks for the welcome and for all the kind messages.
Steve, to be honest, when I saw your response I thought that perhaps you were having a rather heavy Saturday night on your own!
Anyway, really glad to be here and looking forward to getting stuck in.

Steve, to be honest, when I saw your response I actually thought that perhaps you were having a rather heavy Saturday night with only the Lambrini to keep you company.
So apologies all round!
Anyway, really glad to be here and looking forward to getting stuck in.

I was so pleased to read your post this morning, RobertTimothy, as I was afraid you had been put off and not read all the later messages of welcome !

All,
I feel very embarrassed by this incident.
One of the comments mentioned my letting a 13 year old having full Internet access, I can't believe that also has never crossed my mind before. My wife and I don't have kids but that is no excuse for not using my brain.
I have checked the history of his Internet warpath and thank god he has not been visiting anywhere he should not be.
No wonder he loves staying over at my place, I'm to soft and stupid obviously.
A message for Robert, I love trip reports, I think I've read nearly all on this site so please get posting Sir.
I think I need a Holiday,
Steve
31 days to the Florida Keys.

A belated welcome from me too RobertTimothy.
I read this thread with amusement regarding the actions of Steve's nephew.
I hear the Pentagon are also trying to track down the owner of an iPad mini in Kent who has hacked into their systems
Your blog and photos are amazing, thanks for sharing. For those who couldn't get there, the url is
