Virgin Holidays

I recently went away on a holiday booked through a Virgin Holidays shop. Being a Virgin Flying Club card holder, I put the invoice in to get the airmiles added to my account.
Just got an email back saying that the miles won't be added as I should have called the telephone number to book a trip as a card holder and not booked directly with the shop. How annoyed am I to find this out now and not at the time of booking in the shop. Not happy!

That seems bonkers but perhaps the booker was a cardholder and got the miles for the financial cost of the holiday.

How about sending in your boarding cards?

I'm not sure what you mean by this ?| ?| ?|

what miles are you missing?

for flying?
for the spend on your credit card?
any bonus miles for booking a V Holiday?

That doesn't sound right - any passenger with a FC account is entitled to the miles for any flight they take, irrespective of how it was booked or who booked or paid for it.

Have you tried using the "claim missing miles" function on the VS website? Or failing that, as Sealink says, send your boarding cards in by post.

Or, as tonty says, do you mean the bonus miles for using a VS credit card or booking a Virgin Holiday?

Yep, you only get the bonus miles for booking a VH package if you call VH directly using the phone number quoted of the VS website to book and quote your FC number at the time of booking. You can also earn the bonus miles if book using one of their retail concessions.

You won't earn the bonus miles if you book online or via any other travel agent.

I have got my miles for the flight. According to club details, you get 1 mile for every £ spent on a Virgin Holiday. As I did not book it the right way, I don't get the miles. Only for the flight. Virgin Holidays shop neglected to mention this at the time of booking. Missed out on plenty miles.

This is that the VH page says on the VS website

Remember your Flying Club discount is in addition to selected latest offers available over the phone or in your local retail store only, so contact them now for the latest savings on your Virgin Holidays. Your save and earn benefits are not applicable online.

(my bolding)

I suggest to email them back with the above text which is on the vs website here

But did you give them your FC number at the time of booking?

cebain - according to the T&Cs on the page tonty linked to, only the lead name in the booking is entitled to the bonus miles - was that you?

Also, did you tell them you were a FC member and ask about miles when you booked? In an ideal world they'd ask you, but if not it's up to you to tell them.

If the answer to both questions is yes, I'd suggest you pursue it further by calling FC as the website does suggest bookings made in VH shops as well as by phone are eligible (although to be fair it does only mention the FC discount, not the miles bonus).

How did you book, by phone, online or in a VH retail concession?

If by phone (on the number given on the website) or in a shop your miles should be credited automatically - not immediately though, and possibly not until after the holiday.

also

Discount and miles earning qualifying spend does not apply/include to any applicable fuel surcharges, taxes, Air Passenger Duty or personal travel insurance elements of the booking.

I booked in the shop and gave my card at the time of booking. I too got my 7% discount. Nobody ever mentioned I should be booking via the dedicated numbers for holidays. Having said that there appears to just be a general number for holidays. I got a quote over the phone the other day, now I wonder if that will get me miles or not.

^To be applicable for this discount, you need to have been a Flying Club member for at least a month, prior to making your booking with Virgin Holidays. Also you will only receive your discount and miles when you make your booking over the dedicated phone lines or via your local retail store, not online.

Found above in the terms and conditions online!
