Little Red cuts?

This has already been mentioned elsewhere but I thought it was worth a thread of its own.

From Sunday 30th March 2014 it seems the LHR-MAN Little Red route is going back to 3 flights a day from 4.

From London, there's now no flight between 9.30am and 5pm.

Presumably it's down to low loads on the MAN route as EDI and ABZ remain at their existing levels.

Not great news, and now very poor connections for long haul passengers arriving into LHR mid-morning.

Surely if it was down to poor loads they wouldn't wait 7 months to make the cuts ?| ?|

It might be case of them loosing the slots otherwise.

That said it could just be that they forgot to load the flights into the booking engine !

I wondered about this as my friend and I are planning a trip next year. The lack of the afternoon flights make for a long wait at Heathrow when she flies down from Manchester before the 2100 flight to JNB. I think 9 hours may be a bit much for the clubhouse - or am I wrong?! Haha.

I'm hoping they are assessing forward bookings and will load this flight when they review the SS14 timetable when the winter season starts. Fingers crossed.

This is disappointing but I agree I am unsure why they need to wait 7 months before the change is implemented.

I was chatting with the CC on my flight up to MAN tonight and they were not aware of any changes that had been made as yet, but were aware of rumours that "Delta have taken a slot" but they didn't think that could be right.....the schedules might indicate it is.

When does the Seattle flight commence from LHR operated by Delta...... :? ?| :w

I already did know from the Winter schedule that the timings have been amended on the LR flights from MAN, the first flight down south is at 0550 rather than 0735 :0

I do know loads are picking up on the MAN flights, ABZ is growing too but EDI is storming ahead. My recent flights to/from MAN have seen good numbers in the high 80s and 90s.

Interesting times.

It may be that they simply haven't added the time to the schedules yet, the 4th daily MAN was a last minute edition, IIRC, so may be they will still add it.

I do hope they add it going to hold out a bit longer before I book a BA connection back to MAN.

Do we have a sense of how well LR is doing? "Low loads" seems to be a very frequently recurring theme in reports.

A Craig Kreeger interview a few weeks ago (posted on here I think) said it was performing 'as expected'

Which of course could mean absolutely anything!

Every time I have flown LR the loads have been getting higher and higher. Now every time I fly them the plane is pretty full but I can only vouch for the EDI service

I dont know about BA, but BMI certainly used to cull some of their afternoon flights on the MAN>LHR route.

Nothing scientific at all....but flights in the last couple of months or so have that I have been on have seen good increases from single figure loads in the early days to regular loads in the 60s, 70s and higher from MAN.

I don't think it's a secret but EDI is doing very well indeed...... :D (by all accounts)
