V-Flyer Server Move: 15th August 2013

Hi All,
In order to meet the growing demands on the V-Flyer site, we're moving to a brand new dedicated server with enough power to keep us up and running more reliably.
This will be happening in the early hours of 15th August GMT (i.e., overnight). That means any posts made after about midnight and before the domain zone has been updated to point at the new site will be lost.
So tonight, why not go out and party? Take a night off from V-Flyer while the IT guys do their stuff. We'll post an announcement once the new server is online (although you'll probably notice since it'll be a lot snappier!)
Pete

Hi Pete,
Thanks for that information and for rescuing V-Flyer by moving it to a new server. However, I don't know about the others but I am finding it excruciatingly slow in loading since the move. I almost have time to make a cup of tea (and certainly time to pour a G&T! ): ) before each page loads.
I was wondering if it is my ISP but every other site I visit loads quickly. :#

Yep it is pretty slow at the mo, however as I think Pete is doing the move overnight tonight, it might be a bit harsh blaming that for how it's working right this moment

keep the G&Ts coming for a few more hours yet HL!

Erm, it was last night that the move was taking place and my liver is sinking under the number of G&Ts!

I think Pete initially told the mods it would be last night but it looks like it isn't being done until tonight now as per his post and the fact it is still terribly slow.

Thank you, Neil :X
Yes he did tell us that and because I wasn't getting the weird script I assumed it had taken place, especially as the site took so long to load and I didn't get to see Pete's post. So there!

Go out and party :0 :0 . Yeah right

. Do you know how old I am ):.... ):
Some of us are quite happy to sip on mother's ruin and curl up on the sofa for an evening with v- flyer.
Paging HL.....do we have a bottle of gin ( virtual or otherwise) we can christen?? A speed increase on the site would be most welcome though

.

Christen? The site has been so slow that the bottle has not only been christened but has come to the end of its natural life and is about to be buried!! :0

Ok, well the server appears to have moved, but it's not without some teething problems. Unfortunately some site features are currently unavailable until time allows for a re-write.
